yeah dude, getting the hook to puncture through was VERY painful! and took me liek 30mins to pull the hook pass the barb, then the rest came out like butters! but yeah i sure am glad the 30+ inch pike came off as it was still in the water(fished on the dock) and i prob would have fell in. lol
great deal for the late season fisherman or ice fisher! https://livingsocial.com/deals/92653?ref=conf-jp&rpi=31651123 but was able to get out monday morning and had a great time! Before we even launched, i pitched a jig n pig alongside the wooden fence thingy and caught this little guy. an hour had pass with no luck until my biggest of the day of 3.5lb smashed my jig. we then moved around for hours and eventually made out way to the east end of the lake where i caught a 3lber on my second try. we then moved back to where we were catching some bass and i finally caught this 2lber on my custom painted crappie crank.
.... soon to be 2012 fishing thread? I was planning on waiting but I'm tempted to go pick up a hitch and a boat even more after discovering this thread
yes, where's the walleye hot spot, where we could set some slip bobbers and grill? lake city? stillwater? hudson? prescott? something away from mill lacs, that's where all the traffic will be
I hauled the johnson out and hung it off the back of the boat last night. I still have no clue how to fish beyond a bobber, hook, minnow/worm. Hell, I've never even eaten fish nor have I seen a walleye that wasn't in a tank....lol This'll be my first summer in nearly 10 years not being "on call" every other month which I'm hoping will free up some time to hit the lakes more.
I'm in Blaine. Here she is (with vintage effect on the pic )1955 Alumacraft 14' w/15 hp Johnson. Just a basic, cheap boat. I love it.
^results from the opener and since? I came up with walleye, a lot of snakes, and a rock bass... at least i came up with 3 species
Finally finished the boat rebuild and it wouldn't run. Took the carbs apart to find bits of the gaskets floating around in there. Rebuild kits showed up today, installing and trying it out tonight. I can't WAIT! It's only been a two-year project.
My pops caught a handful of 18-26" walleye on opener and then his toothless friend pulled this out of the same spot later that week... Both were fishing from shore and the spot is less then 15 min from my cabin
Sweet. Glad to hear it is up and running. I'll have to stop by and check out the final product.... and maybe do some fishing. I also have some brown bottles for you.
Nicely done, better than I can say. Did this guy eat that thing! - It looks as if he doesn't have plans to throw it back?
Sounds great to me. I hope to get the carbs back together tonight so I can take the fam out on Sunday to find some Crappies.
If it was me THAT would be going on my wall... As for THAT guy he most likely feed his 10 kids and 2 girlfriends with it
Got the Ranger ready to rock for the weekend. This is by far the longest I have ever gone into open water season without fishing. Being a responsible husband and father sometimes sucks. Heading up to the cabin in Park Rapids for some hot crappie/walleye action.
Did you finish my sweet bass slaying rod yet? 2 week then you're stuck with me fishing Saturday morning.
From my honey hole... Been slamming them like this since opener... Our buddy caught a 25lb Muskie last week from the same spot
Well I got out fishing this weekend (finally). I think this is the first time in about 7 years that I haven't fished opener and every weekend following it. I was able to get out with BroCo and we had a good time. We started early Saturday morning. We tried to attack the eyes first but they weren't having it. There were two other boats on the lake and we didn't see them net a single fish. So we decided to fish stumps, pads and docks. I had no luck with the blue/purple brush hog, so I switched to a storm lure swim bait. It worked ok, but my 3ft Rapala was what seemed to produce the most fish. It was a new lure and we ended the day with a good amount of paint removed from the lure. For some reason the rock bass were also loving that lure. I got a few shots with the GoPro, I'll edit down and upload soon.
We won our weekend tournament on Saturday! Limits: 2 Bass, 2 Pike, 2 Eyes, 1 Musky per person. We got the Bass, the Pike and a Ski that measured 37" And our ride-along got a 35" Ski, but it didn't count
Took 5th (out of 18) last night on Waconia in the ******* wind. It was a tough night - and we had one fish that was about 1/16" shy of the 12" minimum so he didn't count.
28" Walleye Lk Tetonka, 5.5 lbs & 6lbs LMB last wknd along with some of the biggest pumkins i have seen! these were the biggest Lmb i've seen or caught in MN, I think 5lbs in MN are rare, while it's average in cali or south. need a 12' jon and trailer hitch on 02 bugeye? or trade for forester? Actually the LMB and pumkins were caught at Clear lake in forest lake. 15mns out for a very good fishing spot.
We should do a subaru fish meet at clear lake, you could pull right up to the lake literally sit in your car and fish and bbq.
Looks nice Ted. I tried to setup fishing this week, because I can't fish this weekend with the MAP event. However, Tuesday looks crappy so I might have to wait till next week. Got another Rapala DT6 from my dad yesterday... to date the best Rapala I have ever used. The DT lineup has been good to me.
Thanks ofSpunkie03.75. What is the MAP event? I've added a few DT's each year to the arsenal and they can be really effective. I especially like the DT2's - they've got a much fatter wobble than a straight stick and can stay over the weeds in certain situations. Glock - the taxidermy is silly spendy but it is cool. I haven't gotten into anything big enough that I want to mount yet. I think I'm going 40"+ for Pike, and 35" for Eyes. Paul and are going out on Sunday for the first annual "Top-water vs. plastics Bass Challenge" that should be a good time. I'm going to freaking SMOKE him with plastics... D - we need to get out on da boat soon.
MAP event is the BIR thing going on this weekend. Drifting, Drag, Autox and Road Racing. That is the best contest ever. If the wind is bad then top water stands no chance. However, having a bass hit top water is the most rewarding view when fishing. I love to see the water explode. I have even had a few pikes go after my top water. Weekdays work for you? I can be out there by 4pm. Hit me up on PM or FB.

I think I'm going 40"+ for Pike, and 35" for Eyes. yeah, that's why i'm just recording my catch right now till i do get the funds or a permanent place. $10 a inch!? man thats a whooper!
