wow, looks like a lot of fun. But being a city boy from Chicago, I don't have the slightest idea where to start. any suggestions? what poles and bait for a starter? Just to see if I like it?
nice Bass, I just froze a 23 inch bass for one of our coustomers for mounting. Im off for the next month or 2 so if anyone wants to come up i can take you out.
well, i caught no fish tonight fishing the mississippi from the shore at hidden falls park. i know its a horrible spot to fish but its quite relaxing there on a hot/humid day with beer to cool you down.
Nice reel! I use the Shimano Sedonas, I think they are a step down from your Sahara. They make some great reels at a for a good price. I was on Upper Red at Big Bog State Park the week before Memorial weekend and we did really well, but not as good in years past. Plenty of fish dinners and smoked walleye mid-day snacks. That lake has a very healthy population of the 18-20 inch eye's right now. Only one crappie caught in our group. I also managed to boat a 34" pike that was proptly released.....anyone been on Mille Lacs lately?
Last night, I caught a 34" northern and a bass that probably went 4-4.5lbs. I should offer a guide service...
A couple little catfish my buddy caught the other night. Waconia has been good to me so far this year, some evening eyes and a few pike 36"+
Tried fishing Crow Wing River up-river from Pillager (Lake Placid). No luck. Experience with river fishing = nil.
Thanks guys. That one went 35" and I think it was just over 11lbs. I can't remember the true weight, but it should be up on my league website in a couple of days. I'll let you know. We missed big fish for the night by less than half an ounce and our fish was 4" shorter. I pulled a 34" from the same spot on Monday night. Lots of fun.
that is a really nice fish. did you catch that within the last few weeks? I had a "thick" 30" pike last weekend... but nothing near 11lbs. that would have been a nice fight! :eek4:
Yep, last night and the 34" was on Monday night. They both hit RIGHT by the boat in about 7'-9' of water. This is a REALLY murky, lake and you can't even see your lure unless it is 6" under the water. I was fishing a HUGE spinner bait made for Muskies. The theory was big, loud, bright so the fish could actually see it...
Nice, that is the way to go. We used to fish the mississippi a lot by the Ford Dam. Similar water conditions. I am hoping to pick up my new WRX and head to the cabin this weekend and get some fishing in. I have a new 30ft deep diver i might make a couple passes with by the big hole in my lake. again, nice fish!
yeah we were fishing for bass last weekend and we were pulling them off of the deep weed edge.... between 10 and 16 feet with bass worms and slugo worms. really weird for the current water temp. Water was so/so for clarity.
I'll throw my hat in the ring for smallest catch, lol. I have the day off tomorrow if anyone is going and looking for some company.
fished tonka for a while tonight - gorgeous evening! storms passed to the north and we stayed dry. fish were not super active. we boated several small bass and a decent sized northern - all on spinner baits. I was throwing bucktails and a 6" reef hog most of the night - didn't even raise a fish (aside from northerns). most fish were coming off the weedline in around 8-12'. northern were active on the cabbage flats in 6-10'.
it really depends on the bay. minnetonka is like several lakes rolled into 1. we were on the wayzata bay end which is very clear water. double blade - willow/colorado. skirts in either charteuse or orange
I went way up to Manotowish Waters in WI Thursday and Friday, beautiful lakes, caught my first Northern. It was only 18in, but quite exciting  I needs to get a pedestal seat in my boat fo sho!
yeah man... i have to say i have the most luck in clear water with chartreuse and white. I like the double blade set up. we'll see what works for me this coming weekend... too bad my lake will be covered in 4th of july weekend fisherman, it will be interesting to see what spots i can get to.
jealous Well my lake is pretty fished out but it is big enough to have a good time. Plus I am looking forward to breaking out the wake skate this weekend during the bad fishing times of the day.
good show. just wondering because the last pic was at the dock. wasn't sure if you had a livewell that big
Yep, that was at the weigh in. Out of the bag, onto the scale, up for a pic and then the sprint down to the lake... He swam away good and strong.
