I've been practicing more on fast cornering rather than making crop circles in parking lots. I found it to be more fun shooting for the fast line around a slick corner while maintaining control.
ding! exactly. I was finding nice quiet areas to practice some left foot braking and cornering. Also with all the ice it was good practice for throttle control in almost zero traction situations.
yea i was lfb the gvr4 around the empty roads - it's easier than the sti in a way because the suspension is so sloppy that the weight transfer is very definative. but it's also harder because it has worn all seasons and crummy diffs.
uh oh.... (ibtl .. er ... merge) spoolem & I hit up the St. Paul lot. Good fun. Big enough to really get some runs in. Where's those vids, spoolem?? I bet they're pretty decent.
Those plow trucks are fast. Couldn't find much in the way of decent unplowed lots by the time i went out.
Yep, I slid a bit on 494 this morning. Then I spent 10 minutes drifting in the back lot at Normandale. Finally got to the point where I could do a full lap of the lot while sideways before a car came in and parked.
Last night I learned that the parking lot on the Southwest corner of the 3M campus is nice for sliding around.
Does anybody know if Valleyfair open during winter season? They have a huge lot for sliding. It should be safe if nobody goes there in the winter. Emply lot=fun to drive and nobody gets hurt. We could possibly have meetings there when it snows a ton. Of course if they have gate open and no visitors. Any ideas?
It doesn't really matter if there is nobody around. You are exhibition driving on a private lot. If you don't have permission to be in that lot doing your 'practice' then they WILL hassle you.
I work across the street. That lot tempts me every day. The lot is gated off all winter so it's a no go anyway. Also it is very exposed to public view.
I know, they have MN autocross events there in the summer, so I thought they would not care if we "practice" in the winter. That's ok, Firestone it is. I can't belive I have not seen you in Shakopee before.
they also pay a ton of money to rent out the venue. Also, it's been said before but could probably be said again... not a bright idea to post exact locations of such activities. For your safety and the image of the club.
Maybe something to that effect should go into the title of this thread - since it's bound to occur again from time to time, like: "Official Snowed Lot Thread (DO NOT POST EXACT LOCATIONS!!)" or something?
only to those who dont have some sort of brain... hello frowned upon activities (by the law) and advertising where you are gonna do it??!!!! HELLOOOOO
Hence the all-caps and multiple exclamation points. Maybe by chance it would be seen by those who weren't thinking ahead. oh - and you sir=lolz
