Is anyone going to be there tonight, after the incident from last night? I was at a movie with my wife, so I didn't stop down there at all last night.

Versus having 'speculation' start, any of those directly involved or in ear shot, pass on what exactly what the problem was?

We found another lot, that we cant get kicked out of the lot until 12am, the owner told the cops not to kick anyone out until after they aare closed. The new place is right across the street from firestone it is the South Aisa food place.

And the lot is a lot bigger than the firestone lot

I think the South Asian food place because the cops wont kick us out until they are closed. Which means that everyone that has trash after they eat or whatever you must pick it up.

There was a crash on Snelling, and the answer is to kick us out of Firestone? What am I missing here? How is across the street any better?

The parking lot is bigger and the owner of the South Asian Food place told the cops not to tell anyone to leave.

It sounds like a few of you are working out the issue from the other night It is obvious that nobody is gonna come out and tell all the details yet but, I and a few others I'm sure have just a few questions. Is the issue the use of the Firestone lot? Do the owners not want anybody/us there? or is it more of a midway/uni. problem in general? Or lastly was it more of a specific problem between an officer and one or more members? i just don't want to show up wondering where everybody is or find my self in trouble for hanging in the wrong spot. Thanks.

From what I saw while I was there, it was an issue between an officer (that appeared to have an attitude) and a couple of members that tried to understand what the issue was (what the officers problem was). The only people that really know are the people that were involved. From a few feet away and outside of ear shot, it appeared that it was started by a poor attitude of the officer involved and a simple action of trying to understand what was happening and why.

    at work...
cop followed someone into the lot, pulled them over for speeding...he was yelling at him and calling him names. then someone else walks to teh area where the cop is standing but not like right next to the cop. The cop goes off on him saying whats your problem. Do you have a problem with me, the guy says no do you have a problem with me and the cop says yes. I do so you can get out of my face. So guy turns around and the cop gets mad. The guy is just leaning against his car not doing anything to the cop and the cop is just being an ass at this point. The cop then decides to tell the guy to leave because he has a problem with him, then he is liek you know what all of you can leave...do it now or i will start writeing tickets...so most of us leave but some were blocked in and they get yelled at for leaveing slow. Person who got pulled over got ticketed for 3 things then left and i dont think anyone went back......thats all you need to know to understand

I dont think we need to leave the firestone lot. Thats our lot and there is no reason why we need to go to the asian spot. We have been at firestone for years. I would say keep meeting at firestone but if he keeps kicking us out then we can think of another spot but otherwise firstone is the lot.

Listen. When we were sitting at the Firestone lot with our Chinese food on Saturday, the cops stopped in a second time and said "You guys really need to get out of here." After some discussion the cop basicly told us, "We are being told by the department to kick everyone out of University...if you are hanging around on University, expect to get harassed."

Then we mentioned that hte Chinese Food place down the block said we could be there till midnight. The cops reply was "Well, we can't touch you there, that is the only spot." That is why the "lets move to the China Food Place" is being discussed. We don't want to leave Firestone, but do you really want to get harassed every night by a bunch of assface cops? I for one don't.

i wonder why the sudden change of hear for the cops down there or i guess the city's change of heart. Ive seen a couple times in the past where cops have rolled thru the lot and started chit chattting with some of the members, they were cool as hell. Now this crap has started. I really hope this is just a faze and blows over real soon.

I would say that we keep meeting at firestone. I have been going into that lot for 15 years, and there are always the little rifts that happen. After a week or so everything is back to normal. We also have permission to hang out in the firestone lot, so basically it would be the same as the asian food lot (sorry, missed the name). What happened was a pissed off cop was having a bad day and he wanted to make sure that everyone knew it. If we are not doing anything wrong, there is no reason that we can't hang out there.

I am just wondering. Is this something that everyone involved should be reporting/complaining to the department involved? Sounds like someone needs an attitude adjustment by a superior.

Keep us posted. I should be able to come down next week. I would be there almost every weekend if I lived closer.

what shoul dhave been done was in a super polite quietly spoken voice, someone should have asked the Officer for his name and badge number.. they are a civic employee.. employed by you and they are supposed to inform you when asked (from my understanding)... if he gets attitude, just get whatever details you can and then politely say that it has been a pleasure talking to you Officer, I hope the next time we meet it is when you arse is being reamed by your superior.. ha ha JK but inform him that you will be reporting him and every other person will individually report him for harrassment and wasting our dollars instead of chasing law breaking morons... or SPEEDERS which may or may not have started this whole thing form what I hear... though blow off valves do make noise at low speeds officer.. ha ha ha

What we need is something written on paper indicating the owner of that lot has given us written permission to be there along with contact info for that person. And then we make about 50 some odd copies of it and everyone keeps a copy in their glove box. Honestly, I want to stay at Firestone too. It really is "our" spot. The Chinese food joint up the street is nice and all, but it isn't "our" spot. But I think if we are going to deal with this, we are going to need some kind of backing from the local establishment. The cops came twice last night. Once at 10:30ish, and again to kick me, Matt, Pete, and Alex out when we returned with our food. They pretty much indicated that this crap will continue and to stay off of University if we don't want to get harassed. Obviously there is a push to clean up Uni internally.

I am going to try and work on getting something from the lot owners this week. I highly doubt they will put anything in writting about us being able to use the lot, but I will see if I can make it happen.

i think one of the reasons there was a crack down this last weekend was because of a hit and run that occured, now there blaming the problem on the people who just cruise uni and dont park..

then why chase aways those who are parked.... I think its more a gathering of too many people in one spot maybe.... kinda like riots start with a crowd.. so stop rioting in teh FS lot and things will be fine....

Well, the firestone lot is one of the smaller lots, and probably the quietest lots out there. we will just have to see what is going to happen.

Well, it's kind of a toss up then, if it's up for debate. There's the 'usual spot' where there isn't a lot of activty and a lot of conversation. Then there's some place new, where an option to get drinks and snacks combined with activity?

Jeez, I was going to come down, meet the other suby nuts at FS tomorrow night and pick up my shirts. Between not having a front plate and having illegal tint, I'm not sure I want to risk harrassment and a ticket.

Does the "harrassment" usually start around 10:30? I can always split before the "fun" begins.

Why dont you have a front plate? Roll down your windows, and do not speed at all and do not take off fast from a stop light and make sure you use your signals, if you do that you might be able to get away with it.

I don't think they really think about that or care. They might have a hard-on to go after young kids with imports not realizing that there are some us that are older than they are.
