I had a good time and look forward to some fun driving tonight with some of the same people.

 

It was nice to meet those of you I met! The Rochester group needs to make it up to FS more often!

So, are there regulars that I should just expect to be there? Obviously, I'm new to this group, so I don't really know if I should just expect certain people to be there, I know it was like that with another group I used to meet with.

 

Yeah, there are some regulars. I'd say most of the people who show up don't actually post in here that they are going to be there. But, it's going to be cold tonight so I wouldn't expect too many people to be there.

 

Are there any lots still available for shenanigans out that way? It is a bit of a hike for me if it's only going to be a couple of people rattling their teeth trying to talk.

 

yeah, probably. I'm not sure where the good, quiet lots are now. But there's some areas with lots of parking lots that might be good for practicing your winter driving skills.

 

I guess that would be incentive to drive out there then, if people are going to be heading out to play.

 

I want to find a lake.



6:43+ makes me very happy in my pants.

 

I don't know if any of the lakes within reasonable distance are safe to be driving on yet... I'd want at least 10 inches of solid ice to have a couple of cars out there.

 

But now's the time. 8 is fine for a car/truck. This early and there's no ice heaves to worry about. THOSE are what's dangerous.

 

I haven't checked personally, but I thought the lakes around the metro area still only had around 3 inches or so. The snow slows down the icemaking quite a bit.

Ugh, I remember driving on a lake years ago, parking next to the ice house, drilling holes, and having water pouring thru the holes as the truck was making the ice sink.... Scary times.

 

I won't be there tonight! Maybe next time though!

I fell through on my snowmobile once.. cooollld times. Ok, maybe I didn't "fall" through so much as fail to make it to the other side of the open water... :roll: Waterskipping was way too much fun, but I was much more cautious after that.

 

I ran so much open water... Always made sure I had a good track tho. My brother tried in an old heavy sled with a bald track. We'll just say he didn't follow me all the way.

 

My track was fine, the belt got wet and I lost power. I didn't wait long enough from the person in front of me and there were still waves.

I did take our old artic cat with a cleated track across a few times, but very very fast and short distances.

I raced at grantsburg (drag, not oval) one time too, that was a blast. Triple 650 polaris engine in a stripped down chasis, the thing would go over backwards on grass, but I still couldn't keep up with the serious sleds on the water.

 

Heh, I wish I still could snowmobile. I should be dead by now, so I figured I'll stop while I'm ahead. ^_^

Almost broke my neck twice. Almost 2 years of my life in a neck brace = not at all fun.

 

Lol Eli allie and I just got back from snowmobiling all day very fun. Chris, Allie, and I are going again sunday... Btw i wont be coming to firestone b/c no one else is going
