^^Yes please keep me in mind if you free up some tickets. I'm excited for tonights game being in HD since I can't be there I might as well be able to see whats happening on the tv. Dammit w.o.t quit typing so fast.
I'll be over yr left shoulder in the upper deck... right in front of the loud "Skoula sucks" and "Hit somebody" guy... I know you can hear him all the way down there:laugh: also, looking forward to watching this after the game: http://www.kare11.com/news/investigative/extras/extras_article.aspx?storyid=498113
^^^ Fair enough... Still would rather have Mitchell than Skoula... But that's the way it goes! 3rd period goodness coming right up! We are currently getting outshot 24-8 but the "W" is what matters! Go Wild!
well this was bound to happen some time. We have been pretty lucky with the OT wins. since we werent in the lead entering the 3rd our record of 24-0-1 hasnt been lost. I really thought that we were going to pull it off in regulation time. They way we were controlling the puck at the end of the 3rd was nuts. I dont think i have seen us keep possession of the puck for that long. We did a real good job keeping it in the zone too. this should be an interesting week. going to chicago tomorrow right of this loss and another back to back game at the end of the week. Lets see if we can hold it together. Also, I was disappointed that nummy was not out there. especially after how well he played last time.
They looked kind of crappy through the 1st -- however, they pretty much dominated the rest of the game (although the score said otherwise). IIRC, they hit the post 5 times in the game. The score should've probably been at least 5-3.
That is true, I think it was 4 times, eitherway they should have had at least 4-5 goals. At least their shots on goal was up from the night before. Also, they need Boogaard back in the game as well, they were getting tossed around like rag dolls at some points. I guarantee that some of those cheap hits would have never happened if he playing.
tough game today.... I was reading some trade rumors and theres alot of talk about the wild getting rid of Rolston Demitra and Schultz. Thoughts?
I'm not so sure about Demitra, either. Getting rid of him will certainly hurt our chances of trying to keep Gabby around.
They are talking about bringing Marian Hossa in for Demitra Which would be sick him and gabby grew up together.... As much as i like the guy... I haven't seen much from him. As for Rolston I hope not.
^^^^ Not much of a hockey guy huh?? Hossa has publically said that he will not play here. So at best, we would have him as a rental till the end of the season, then he would go elsewhere for his next contract. At that point, we would give up TONS of assets for a 20 game rental player. DR will not do that. Even Gabby has said that Hossa doesn't want to play here. We stole Schultz. 6 year 21 million dollar contract. I really think we might pick up Federov. he will be cheap, the blue jackets are not going to make the payoffs. Of course, neither will we unless we start winning some games. Other than that, unless Foppa says yes in the next 2 days, I think we don't do anything. History has proven that brining in the big name at the last minute hardly ever works. As for keeping Gabby, he has DR and co. over a barrel. He we don't resign his BFF, he will cry. he has already held out on his first contract, he would have (and kinda did) hold out on his 2nd contract, and now we are coming up on his 3rd. You know that if we would have signed his BFF, he would have held out last time. I say that if we can't get him signed long term over the summer, trade him. Russ
Forsberg to Colorado! Uh oh... They will be tough down the stretch with Sakic and co. coming back, but that is only if old man Forsberg can play... Glad he told us he wouldn't play this year, then decides to resign with his old club! +1 on the fact that we need to start winning again if we even want to make the playoffs! 1 point back as of today... There were some hopeful talks about acquiring Ole Jokinen from the Panthers which I would like as he is a solid goal scorer with some physical ability as well... I went to a Panthers game down in Florida last April and he had like 2 goals and 2 assists and was damn near unstoppable! I think we need to try and do something to get some skilled front line size at the center position down the stretch or we could have a similar fate come playoff time should we get there...
mwahahahahahah!!!!!! We picked up the biggest goon in the league -- Chris Simon. I can see it now: Fedoruk, Voros & Simon all on the same line. Maybe we should make them wear thick black-rimmed glasses.
I have no clue why we signed Simon. It doesnt seem like JL to get someone like him. I hope we can turn this loose streak around tomorrow. Getting kind of depressing.
huh? We've signed Fedoruk & Voros this year and resigned Boogaard last year. Simon is a better overall player than all three of those guys combined. Plus, it's not like we didn't lose anything to get the guy. He's going to add some needed muscle; it's pretty obvious that we lack it when watching us play teams like Calgary and Anaheim. Ditto on our streak of playing like t3h suck, though.
^^^^ You are correct. As of now, you can pretty much expect to NOT see Boogaard the rest of the season. If simon can keep his temper under control, he is another brusier that can also score a bit. We got him for nothing (6th round pick). He probably strikes fear into everyone he faces since he is a loose cannon. The VS guys like the pick up. Actually most of the hockey people yesturday liked the pickup, but as long as he doesn't flip out again. Everyone said the same think when we picked up fedoruk, and now look at him, he is playing the 1st line (when JL holds lines together for more than 2 shifts). Russ
Doesnt he hold the record for game misconducts? I can see us needing extra enforcer strength since boogard is out for the back thing, but is this a little over board. slightly OT: does anyone find it odd that Simon got a 25 game suspension for crushing that guys ankle, a 30 game suspension for the 2 handed throat slash and yet the guy (forgot who right now) who did the 2 handed slash and broke Koivus leg got a 4 game suspension?
Ohland could have probably got a few more games but let's be honest, two handed chop to the face and a skate stomp to the back of the leg of a down player are probably just a bit more serious then the chop to the leg... Now I agree that all circumstances have the intent to injure, but I don't think Ohland ever would have imagined in his mind that he would fracture his knee cap or whatever happened. Guys in the NHL take sticks to the legs and arms quite often and for the most part aren't too worse for wear. Hopefully Simon can just add the enforcer part and add some of the quick hands that he had shown in the past when attempting to create some plays. He did have 29 goals in 2000 or 2001 so he can score, unlike Boogard or even Voros right now. Who knows, he'll probably just headbut someone or pull some sh** to get kicked out for good, but for a 6th rounder, what the hell, right?
Bump the current thread and brag a little about the upcoming road trip. Heading out to Vancouver for Friday's game. I will post up some pics when I get home. Nothing like going into enemy territory when we are fighting for first in the division. Russ
Hope your not driving a modified car up there, those Canadian Mounties will take your car and crush it, eh. Have fun man. Go Wild
That will be a fun trip! Man that game last night was intense. We were actually playing decent. Our passing was pretty good, better than I have seen it in a few weeks. Nabakov is a great goalie, although he wasnt looking up to is normal level of excellence. Its neat seeing that Gaborik has a fast and accurate slapper. We can use that now that Foster is out with the fractured femur. We wont be seeing him for the rest of this season. I would think he would be able to make it back for next year though. We are really hurting on the defense men now though. We need to get Nummie healthy. Also good to see Boogard back out there, he rocked Shelly good.
Ahhh yes... Boogaard WHOOPING some ass!:laugh::laugh: Shelley had to go to the locker room and get a zipper to fix his face after that one!!! Damn shootouts are the death of us... Backstrom finally made a save on a shootout for once... Last 4 shootouts Backstrom has given up 6 goals on 12 shots! 2 post shots, 3 missed net completely, and 1 save... :eek3: Glad there aren't shootouts in the playoffs!
The Wild offer STHs travel packages to different cities to go watch the Wild on the road. Vancouver is latest. Flight, Hotel and tickets to the game for about 1200. Not too bad.
w00t! Glad to see we won it in regulation time. These last few games of the season are a big teaser for play-off hockey. It is a whole new level of competition. According to what the announcers said we are like 10-3-1 or something like that for back to back games. lets hope we can carry this attitude over to saturdays game against the flames. I would be so happy to see us win this one, since the flames normally school us.
