I use a Purolator Pure 1. Can't remember what the Subie number is, but I believe it ends with a 12. Use the one right next to it that ends with a 10. Same construction, filter, fit, but its a half inch longer. More capacity FTW.

Advance Auto Parts. Open till 9 every night except Sunday.

There's one off 42 and 13 in Savage, possibly the closest to you. Or stop by Lexus and I'll hook you ups with one from my trunk. haha

    I always carry extras.

Why does the price vary so much ? Seriously ?

I always buy my filters at Bloomington Acura Subaru because I drive past it twice a day. Not much point driving all the way up to Mtka or BP to save $1. But the price varies so much. At best, I've paid $8.xx, at worst $12.xx. Yesterday, I paid $10.xx. What gives ?

    Stuart.

Price differences = dealers using different price matrices. (plural for matrix, whatever)

For example, cost on a D1 Toyota filter is around 2.44. Book list is usually 5something. We charge 9.99 over the counter, or to deliver to a business, just simply because of fuel surcharges. Other items vary for the same reason. Door lock actuator--344 bucks cost. List is around 500something. We charge usually double the cost (688 or so) because it costs us more to ship in a higher-dollar item, and there are items that are damaged in transit, so the cost has to be made up somewhere. Its complete BS if you ask me.

The reason for the differences is because different dealers use different shipping methods, and because, well, some are more money-hungry than others. Some even use a different price matrix for over the counter stuff vs. delivery stuff, because of the no fuel surcharges.

All this is why I have NO PROBLEM giving anyone our WCASH account price. Wholesale cash, which is smack dab in between cost and book list. Best discount available. :)
