Car got up on the trailer. Ending up putting oil back in it.. Starting it and drove it up. It was running for about 15 seconds.

Will be trailered back to Minneapolis tonight and NF tomorrow.

You really are dead set on making sure none of that motor is usable again aren't you...

I knew I would get something about that. I had really no other choices. Everything is coated with ice up here. We tried pushing, pulling, everything and anything until the mechanics had to get back to work.

Golly. A) I should have thought of such. B) the techs should have thought of such.

Well that'll be in my bag of tricks if this god forbid ever happens again. Just needs to get to NF as safely and soundly as possible. Then it's up to them.

I'd have started it too, but I probably wouldn't have admitted it.

Right as I posted that I was thinking ... "I should have just said that I got it on the trailer" whatever, can't really change it. Car will be back in the Cities around midnight tonight. Gotta love night finals.

Car is happily sitting at the NF parking lot.

Parts that are going to be ordered are (as planned):
    Bearings
    Cams
    Pistons
    Killer B oil pickup
    BNR 18g
Excedy OEM clutch or clutch masters stage 2
    Timing belt kit

I'm missing stuff, but I'll make the for sure order will be posted when able.

Hahaha, ones that add the most horsepower. I heard that herra flush ones generally give you a +50 if they're placed a diagonal all the way across the rear windshield.

A big Peterbilt one across the front windshield too for extra hype. ;)

I would definitely recommend the clutchmasters clutch. I haven't tried the stage 2 but the FX400 is amazingly easy to drive for a puck style clutch. I think NF has had good experiences with clutchmasters in general.
Be sure to post more details about what all you are putting in the engine! I anticipate a build in my future sometime too.
Do you know for sure that your shortblock is useable? And heads aren't damaged?

I'm probably going to go with a clutchmasters clutch. Not sure which one as of right now.
I'll post details as soon as I can with everything. I think the car will be going into the shop come Thursday or Friday.
Nuke is thinking the shortblock is still going to be useable; as of right now unsure about the heads, but we're crossing our fingers they're not in need of work/replacement.

+1 for clutchmasters as well. I have the FX400 which I think may be a hair annoying for a DD, but I also don't DD my STI so I don't get that used to it. I get spoiled by the ease of my saabaru clutch. In any case, the pressure plates of the clutchmasters feel amazing and the actual clutch has been holding up fine thus far.

    Parts list:

    Manley h tuff rods
Acl main and connecting rod bearings
    Arp 2000 headstuds
Gates timing kit with water pump
    Je pistons

    To buy yet:
    Turbo: Kinugawa or BNR 18g
    clutch: CM FX250 or 300
OEM crank, oil cooler and gasket kit.

Thoughts on the Turbo selection would be greatly appreciated.

I was really happy with my BNR 16g, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love the BNR HTA68. Aaron up there in GF has a BNR 18g I believe...

The only thing is I believe the kinugawa comes with braided oil lines and everything. Whereas the BNR uses the oem lines and such. However, BNR has built a solid reputation, and my understanding is kinugawa is still a new company.

In a bit of a pickle.

For what it is worth I have used the kingugawa coolant lines and they work well.

BNR wants a filtered oil line, and had been recommending the Infamous setup, though I understand the're out of stock right now :\

Header is the harder part to come by OEM. The ones you do fine are normally pretty warped.

I have a kinugawa TD06 SL2 20G with billet wheel and I love it. Do not discount kinugawa, they are the same as Kamak and are high quality turbos.

With that turbo, I don't think a fx250 is gonna hold, and maybe not even the 300...double check with the NF boys.

Looks like you mentioned the killer b oil pickup earlier, but you may also want to consider the larger oil pan and baffle too. Speaking of oiling, also look into either an aos (Crawford or moroso, not grimmspeed) or a catch can setup. Don't forget to get your heads redone while they are off too. If you were running E85 before, I would also highly recommend getting your injectors cleaned and flow tested.

It's important to protect your "investment" and address all the little details now, esp while the motor is out. NF will have some good recommendations and look out for you as well!

I would take you up on that, but there are no E85 stations up in GF that I know of. I'm going to be pinching pennies as it is right now. But if you've still got it all available come spring, I might take you up on that.

    Adding to the list:

    STi uppipe and invidia down.
Turbo is being built right now.
E85 is still up in the air, but will more likely happen this summer when I have an income and not in school anymore.

Heads were in good shape. So those'll stay how they are.

Will keep this all updated as I get info from NF.

Last parts are being ordered in the next few minutes. To wrap it up, it'll be this:

    Manley h tuff rods
Acl main and connecting rod bearings
    Arp 2000 headstuds
Gates timing kit with water pump
    Je pistons
    Invidia DP
    STi UP
    Kinugawa TD05H-18g w/Kinugawa oil lines
    Clutch Masters fx350
    OEM oil cooler
    OEM gaskets
    OEM crank
    Grimmspeed DP adaptor

I'm probably missing something.. as for further plans (summer or well into the future):

    Wheels/Tires/springs (or coils)
    Cobb STS
Need to put in the boost gauge (and look into buying an Oil pres. Gauge.

Uff da! Let's hope this isn't the case. The probable cause is not oil pickup as I suspected but another very easy thing that I could have prevented if I would have taken the time. The lovely banjo filters were still in and that's what Nuke believes caused everything to go.

I guess this'll be a warning to everyone that has an LGT, just do it. Take them out if they're not already.
