So I drove my 03 wrx yesterday and parked it I went to pull it out of the drive way today and the oil pressure wasnt on but it was dim and wouldnt shut off. Only this different from yesterday is that I pulled my DDM hids out and that was the only thing changed. There isnt a drop of oil on the ground oil level full so any ideas?

I have seen this in a quite few Toyota and Subaru applications, some had a leaking oil pressure sending unit, others had too much teflon on the threads when the sender was installed. There is a "elctric friendly" loctite designed specifically for sensors that need to conduct by grounding through the block.

I've heard this is pretty common, though I don't know the exact reason. There must be some sort of electrical defect that allows a small amount of current to flow. It may be an insulation issue since I have read about it happening after rain or when moisture gets on the sensor.

those oil pressure sensors do go bad, they are very cheap and easy to replace

this is what Im guessing happened as I had the heater on in the garage and it was fairly humid plus the condensation off the cold engine.
