If you are up for bannering, we are meeting at 8:30 a.m. Friday and/or Saturday in the hallway outside registration. I'm headed to the cities Saturday to pick up bannering supplies and help put together worker and competitor packets.
probably not friday since that's about when i will be leaving to head up there, but sat is a possibility, that would be pretty fun
For all those who are going, would you guys like to hook up once there for lunch or something? If so maybe we can exchange numbers and locations where you're staying.
^^^^ Easiest way is to just meet at Northern inn around noon. If you are working the event, you need to check in there before noon anyways, and everyone has to be back there at 2pm for the worker meeting. Pretty much the whole event revolves around Northern inn. Russ
Here's the worker schedule for the 2007 Ojibwe Forests Rally in Bemidji, MN: Friday, Aug 24 Worker Registration 9:00 AM - 12:00 noon Worker School 1:00 - 2:00 PM Worker Meeting 2:00 PM Saturday, Aug 24 Worker Registration 10:00 - 11:00 AM Worker Meeting 11:00 AM All worker meeting are held at the Northern Inn on US Hwy 2, just west of Bemidji. Volunteers are still needed in all specialties. If you can come, or if you're coming but haven't registered, please register online at www.marblesoft.com/rally/workers
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can we register to work only on Saturday? I have to work Friday and can't make it up till later that night.
Absoluteley! One day is better than none and you can get your feet wet. Hopefully in a figurative way.
I'm going to be in Seattle for the following week, otherwise I woudl be crewing for Karl Biewald, my old driver. Stupid time off limitations. If you see this car, that's my old ride. Next year, once I qualify for life insurance, I'll be back in the right seat. The credit to this picture goes to Whitewnuckle Photography
I just found out the guys I was planning on staying with will not be going and now I need a place to crash. I dont staying in a motel or camp site. I will be checking around to see if there is anyone interested in sharing space with a little asian man. LOL I'll see you guys up there as I am volunteering.
everybody remember to go to the yellow CPD truck (it'll be in the rally HQ parking lot) after the rally is over and get super wasted and do stupid things and have a awsome time i could only find 1 pic of the drunken scooter hooliganism from last year (the cpd truck is in the background, you can see team manager Graham Evans under the scooter...) oh yeah, BYOB, we arn't rich ya know....
Yeah... I didn't get off work. ****!!! I was there for the hooliganism last year. It was a blast. I jumped the scooter with a beer in my hand. Now this year... not happening :emo:
Bad news....I am sick and can't really allow for going up and hanging out in the woods all weekend. I already canceled my hotel room at the Northern so I know at least one is open guys. Do I need to tell anyone about my volunteer registration?
^^^^^ Nope. We will have to check in before noon, so when you don't check in, they will have it figured out. I also think they do the pre-register to get a idea about how many cool toys to buy everyone. Russ
Question for the knowledgable.... I really want to volunteer on the Saturday, but I think I will be going up with 2 other people and I want to watch with them during the rally. Do you guys think it is possible for my friends and I to sign up together to work at the same station? It should also be noted that none of us have worked the rally before. I know Russ said they usually try to pair up rookies with people who have done it before. Can one veteran help out 3 rookies? Thanks for the help.
You and your friends should come to registration together so that you can all pick the same worker assignment. We want volunteers to have fun and that includes hanging out with their friends. Don't worry about being rookies. Talk to your stage captain before you head out to let them know you are new. They should be able to teach you anything you need to know. You can also review http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17532 for an overview. Further along that thread is a link to a much more detailed description of the different worker duties. See you in the woods.
Ojibwe Burning Ban Because of the high risk of fire, camp fires are prohibited right now except in approved enclosures (grills at wayside rest areas, for instance). That means that as of today, our course workers may not have any wood fires or charcoal fires. Self-contained camp stoves will be permitted. This is subject to change. If it rains, the ban may be lifted. If it stays dry, even camp stoves may be banned. If workers plan to picnic while waiting in the forest, they may need to bring cold food. I didn't ask, but I suppose car fires are prohibited, too. Mark Larson Rallymaster 2007 Ojibwe Forests Rally
Thor, don't worry about it. Bob will let everyone work together. Again, working consists of watching the cars go by. I don't think you guys really need anyone to help out. When I said about pairing up rookies with vets, that is more for the people who have no idea what is happening. The system is pretty simple to follow. Everyone will meet up with their team captain and train out to the woods from there. So as long as you can foloow the group, you are good to go. Again, for the people heading up friday morning. I will be stopping at the SA in St. Cloud right on 10 (before you get into cloud). I need to meet some people there by 6:30am. So if you want to meet and head up from there let me know. I want to get back on the road as close to 6:30 as I can. Fron there I will be stopping up in Pequot Lake to drop off a dog and pick up 95lwrx and anyone else that wants to stop. Plan on being back on the road again by 9am. From Pequot to Bedjimi is a 2 hour drive. So we should be up to Northern be 11am. From there we can check in for the workers and go get some lunch. Let me know if that works out for everyone. Also, post up if you want to get some lunch when we are up there. Russ
damn you are giving alot of travel time russ even driving the speed limit from brainerd you can make it to bemidji in just over a hour and a half:biggrin: but it's good to have extra time, so do you want to meet in brainerd or in pequot? if you want to do brainerd then we could meet at either the target parking lot or holiday gas station, on the way through baxter. both are on the same side of the road and easy to get to. if in pequot just name the place, i grew up there so i know where everything is. and yes i am planning on lunch after we register for working.
C,mon, everyone know the MNS peeps can't tell time. We can even swing in at BIR. The GF's parents live right by the cemetary (behind the school), so anywhere along there will work.
ha ha very true  how about we plan on meeting at bir, that way i'll top off my gas at the shell station. let me know a time and i'll be there. send me your cell # too so i can get ahold of you if something comes up. thanks.
I would guess that will be be at BIR around 8 or before. I can just give ya a call when we get close to brainerd also. PM on the way. Russ
yeah it would work best if you called a little before you hit brainerd then we could time it good without either of us having to wait.
I am running a 92 octane map in my car right now and above St. Cloud there isn't much for 92 oct gas. Anybody have any tricks or special locations so that I can get up there and back safely?
Another question.... The Rally America new member signup is closed right now and it says to check back in a few days. My pops is trying to register so that he can work the event with me. Is there another option to get all signed up? Here is a screen shot of what the Rally America website says.....
you can just register when you get there, there is always a need for more volunteers. as far as gas goes you will only find 91 in the bemidji area( there may be 92 but i haven't found any up there yet. you would probably be fine on 91 qas long as you didin't drive your car very hard, i hate to suggest octane booster cause i never use that stuff but it may be a last resort for you.
That's where you register with R-A as a competitor (well, you can get a "worker" license, but you don't have to have one), not with OFR as a worker. To register as a worker, you can just go to registration in Bemidji, or you can pre-register at: http://www.marblesoft.com/rally/workers
those of you planning to meet for lunch make sure you are at the northern inn by noon!! we are going to be hungry so don't be late  see everyone tomm!!!
i was there it was a blast. sorry to those of u who dint make it. the mk2 were by far the best to watch
