try spending 6 grand in 3 weeks (should be an easy 8k by the time OFR is done) and not really having anything to show for it
Damn Carl, you will have a running, working rally car and the good times driving it. Not to mention the fact that you have had a ton of good people helping out just because we're your friends. Don't let all of us think we haven't accomplished anything. I know you are down in the dumps and the money situation sucks, but you need to remember why you got into this in the first place. BECAUSE IT'S FUN! That's why we are all turning wrenches and crewing for you on our own dime, not to mention burning vast amounts of vacation time, BECAUSE IT'S FUN. Get your head on straight, let's finish the car this week and go race. RALLY, RALLY, RALLY
All i saw was a movie moment where Round Dan stands up in the middle of a crowd of people with background music going (Triumphant may I add) and uses lots of hand gestures to make a moment. A moment where he explains to the Hero of the story how "HE CAN DO IT!"
ticks need to be attached to you for a minimum of 24 hours to transmit a disease, atleast according to my military medical training.. If any LADIES want a free tic check PM me:laugh::laugh:
RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALLY RALL and don't forget RALLY!!!1!1!1!one
Carl, we missed you marshalling stage 2 at Duquette, looking forward to seeing #171 running the stages at OFR!
Carl, I say this in all honesty, you will recover. You will learn from the mistake at Nemadji III. You will learn who your friends are and who the hangers-on are. You will grow from this. Stay the course and show what you've learned at Ojibwe by finishing. Plus...we have a really great party to look forward to.
^^^reminds me of that country song... IMHO if mark talks, listen, and take notes. so if he says u got this, u got this, and if something were to happen, then ya deal with it, just like this time, and $$$ isnt more important than fun, hell fun is the reason we all want $$
I am going up to this for the first time! we need to see all the subarus out there. Put on a show for us cant waite to see some RALLY!!!
Why spectate when you could volunteer...you get the warm fuzzy feeling of helping a good cause and maybe even a free t-shirt
yeah its fun but you need to put some effort in and travel around to see more than one stage. head on over to http://rally-america.com/events/2009/OFPR/ and download the spectator guide PDF. on friday the spectator area at steamboat should be fun.
that is a valid point. people dont need to worry about never having worked or even been to a rally before. they will take care of you. and if you work you will get guided out to the stage and get to hang with some people that have spent a lot of time around rally and learn a lot.
I would work...there is no better way to see the cars...plus you get sweet stuff! Like free food at the banquet!
Just a bit of a heads up. I heard that people were walking 1.5 to 2 miles to get to the spectator area. Then you get to watch with a bunch of other people (2 miles worth of cars and 2-4 people per car=a lot of people). If you work, it will be you on the corner with your friends and maybe a random person or photog. Russ

I've got two friends that have signed up to be course marshals and they've never even been to a rally. It's definitely the way to go if you want to watch and be a part of the action.
I marshaled for my first time with 2 kids (under 4) and a dog. If I can do it, you can do it. (I had worked a control before that, but never worked as a course marshal.)
I always have a lot of fun marshaling! Even more fun when cars loose parts by you! The best seat in the house... er forest!!
^^^True! I've collected all kinds of various mud flaps and stuff over the years. But never a super sweet bumper! I found de-banering is a good way to see the carnage and maybe score a few small rally mementos.
Amy (ScandiaWRX) would appreciate help debannering! send her a pm and let her know you are interested!
between me, bruce, berly ann, erick and matt we must have talked to a few hundred people about the rally up here at the Perfect 10 car show here in fargo. there are some excited rally fans around here.
Mayhem Racing Unleashed OK, the secret can be let out. I made a submission to Ford's 2010 Unleashed program that will help launch the new 2010 Mustang. I will be running an AWESOME 2010 Mustang at Ojibwe.
Wow. Mark, that's awesome! I can't wait to see this thing running this weekend. How much work did you have to do to get it into rally shape?
Ford had all the big stuff done in Detroit (cage, engine, trans, etc.). Our team did a lot of work today and we have a few things to finish up but we will be ready.
The suspension is a mix of stock parts that were selected as a good compromise of cost and performance.
It sounds like his old car, but makes all the power up top... This thing will be SCREAMING when it blows by!!!
