So against the rules of common sense you're going to do what you wanted to do regardless of the wealth of good advice you've been given.

    Are you Russian, by chance?

Etchy, I'm pretty confident we're soulmates.

Those exact words were screaming through my head like a bewitched lover.

I haven't done a full swap, but these guys know what they're talking about. Unless you have some other car to drive while yours is down (and it will be down), it's not even worth the experience and knowledge. Let it go and just wait to buy a WRX or STi in the future.

NO DUDE, DO IT, DIVE IN. IGNORE COMMON SENSE AND REASON. JUST DO IT!!!! COME ON, THESE GUYS ARE IDIOTS AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT, ITS TOTALLY A GOOD INVESTMENT SINKING ALL THAT MONEY INTO YOUR CAR. PLUS IT'LL BE RELIABLE AS HELL! GO MAN, GO!!! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, SCREW THE NAYSAYERS AND THEIR STUPID EXPERIENCE!

No, it's reverse psychology. When we give him good advice he ignores it. So, I'm giving him solid bad advice in the hope that he ignores it and does the better action.

Seriously, this thread is retarded. He has no idea what modding a car even entails. How familiar is this person with wiring diagrams? Its not for the meek and meager. Honestly, wiring in a standalone is easier than merging an NA and turbo harness. I thought I could get away with $10k. I've more than doubled that, in parts. I do ALL my own labor, so I haven't been burned there. OK, I take that back. I paid someone to bore my block and do a valve job.

Fix the damn car, and sell it. Buy a turbo car. Its that simple. You could fix it, and beat her like she owes you money. Either way, if you want a project car, buy one. Don't take your nice daily driver and turn it into a cluster ****.

A car can be fast, reliable, or cheap. Pick two............

And pay the insurance rates so you can call your car a WRX or STI.

If you like doing things the absolute worst way possible, and are looking for a WRX/STi for cheap. Fix your car and sell it, then check out WMC(if they are still around). They are an excellent company to purchase lightly used STi's for really cheap.

WMC is gone I think, or they are moving to a new place. Eitherway, avoid at all costs.

Are you implying that a swapped RS would be more cost effective due to lower insurance rates?

Those insurance rates won't add up to the cost of maintaining a project car like that.

Touche but believe me you can't put a price on the pain and suffering of dealing with a frankencar. You can put a price on parts and labor though

fix your car, keep driving it, it probably gets decent mileage, sell it and get a wrx, or sell this car, pay off what you owe, use the leftovers for a 2.5 RS and swap into that, they pay off will be a faster car with even cheaper insurance.

We don't want to see you waste your time and money on a project like this!

With the WRX/Pre-2002 RS swap, you're putting a bigger better motor into a light ass frame.=pretty amazing power.

With a STI/WRX swap, you get more power, 2.5 instead of 2.0, and the possibility of a full on 6 speed conversion.=This is less practical than above^, but doable with the right amount of time and ching.

With a non-turbo bugeye RS/WRX swap...Your getting something that already exists...it would be cheaper to sell and buy a different turbocharged bugeye. Not only that, but you are going to have everything needed and won't even get a finger dirty doing it.

Basically, everyone is saying that it just makes no sense that you would do/entertain this idea. Just trying to help...02.

Subiedriver4444, listen to this guy ^^^

That is what everyone is trying to say, without the humor and sarcastic drippings. Reading this thread made me realize that they do have a point in the you should sell it and get a 2.5 rs (like mine:yumyum:) and swap it with a rex motor.

the best advice was already given long ago.

Sell your RS, buy a WRX.

Its just way cheaper, and you get the same result in the end. RS's hold their value well due to being a "non race boy" type of car and even if you get screwed on the sale or trade in, WRXs are cheap now and its still going to cost way less than a swap and work way better.
