I think the autocrosses are also still providing a seperate class in each of the classes for the "Ladies". I'm pretty sure the cars can't tell who is behind the wheel though. Amy
Bring it! My DMS 40s should be back later this week from getting new bushings and are going on the Legacy. They should help bunches with the John Deer like plowing I have now with 15 yr old marshmellows on corners now. I doubt it will take me to into Mark's zip code but should help me kick off the ankle biters. Amy
I just looked at the price of those struts... :eek3: :eek4: I might get my d-spec's set up by then, depending on how hard i work at it. I bought 7 feet of aluminum extrusion to that end, today. Then i have to enlist carl to help me put them on, as i know he's done it a zillion times. Then, maybe, i can stop bouncing off the bump-stops.
Believe me, I did not pay anywhere near what they cost for the ones I have. I got them used and got a good deal on new bushings installed. If someone closer to me wants to help me with strut install, maybe next weekend (not this coming one)? I often have access to a lift and good tools from a friend but could use the help. I was really hoping I could get them on before BIR but not going to happen.
Amy, I wish you lived closer. I'd gladly install your struts for you. why don't you make up an excuse to drive the beast to the cities and I'll do the install
Thanks... I'm coming down for Ren fest on Sunday next weekend. Maybe come down the day before and do struts on Saturday? I still have to reassemble them but I think I can do that at home before hand.
sure thing. I'm home that weekend...nothing planned. I'll PM you my contact information. If you want to do the installation just PM me closer to the weekend and we'll arrange a time of day that works for you.
294s fit under 16s. the new (4pot) calipers are bigger than the old, so if they fit, the old ones fit. 276s fit under 15s. regardless of caliper (unless you're running the wrx bracket, in which case your pads are hanging out off the edge of the rotor and I wouldn't recommend putting any wheels on it.....)
im just kiddin ya bud yeah i know its a ways.....i think i made it there in an hour and a half......on the bike lol
well I tested out my stock crappy wrx struts on my 35 profile tires in the field at my new house today.. ( a few times).. THEY SUCKED.. ha ha ha.. my rears scrub normally so this is gonna be painful... may have to bite th ebullet on new suspension that I keep telling the wife i need... ha ha ha or blow them up for sure then I have the perfect reason..
I am guessing he is hoping you will be filming or taking pics?? back on topic... almost another day closer
quick question. How many of you were slamming on the gas at the starting line...to roll through the timing gates as fast as possible? thinking back, I thing I failed at this as I didn't know the rules and if I could/should floor it...for the most part I just gave it gas and started casually. then once i hit the timing gates i would mash the gas.
i kinda rolled on the gas after i made the right hand turn before the timing lights, there is no rule against it, that is why there is room to accelerate before the lights
I wouldn't try to launch too hard since it would just spin around the corner, I'd get the car kinda around the corner and lined up and then hit the gas.
I know some of the faster competitors were in 2nd gear by the time they got to the start lights or shortly there after. Non clutch eating launches are something I'm working on. Likewise, do not brake or let off until you pass through the finish. BUT you have to be under control when you do this and stop/slow down safely after the finish lights. Amy
Thanks for the input. I was only nailing the gas AT the starting lights, then in 2nd gear 1/2 way up the hill. I was thinking if I launched (at 3K) then I'd be able to hit 2nd shortly after the lights...like Amy mentioned. I feel like I lost some valuable time by taking it easy. I need to work on this
I was launching at about 4k, as i do need to keep my clutch around for a little while longer. I was in second starting up the hill - basically right after getting the car back in line after the first corner.
I was usually in second just after the lights. I launched with just enough clutch slip/wheelspin to take off quickly but I kept wheel spin in check enough to make the corner cleanly yet quickly. I'm not a big fan of the 5k clutch dump with the 5 speed even in the dirt.
yeah, I'll try to raise the rpms a bit at the start... man, hearing you guys talk about launching at 4k+...i know that would help decrease my starting time. I guess I should've asked before hand...oh well, next time
Don't get overly aggressive though. Just launching hard enough to keep away from bogging is plenty fast. If i launch any higher than 4k, it just end up with a lot of wheelspin and nothing to show for it.
Yeah, i understand. and thanks for the advise you guys. Honestly, if I did launch over 4.5K I'm sure I'd be in 21+psi of boost...then wheelspin forever and ever and ever:biggrin: = slowest time of the day:ugh:
