can someone help clarify what is the snell rating & minimum specs needed for a helmet??? thanks!

 

I just read that the rules stated helmets can be snell 1995. Is this correct? If so I'm going to be upset that I bought a new helmet this year.

Rallycrosses are similar to autocrosses, but on dirt. A short course (typically 0.25-0.5 miles in length) is set up using cones. Cars must navigate the course as fast as possible without hitting any cones. A street car and an M2000 helmet are all that is required to get started in this exciting form of motor sport. ​

 

Straight from the rulebook:
Snell 1995 (SA95, M95, or K98) or newer labeled helmets are approved for use.
This is a minimum standards for use in RallyCross, other approved helmets are:
1. British Standards: BS 6658-85 type A/FR, including all amendments.
2. SFI Foundation, Inc; SFI Spec 31.1

 

If you download the rallyx rules pdf. it states a Snell 1995. Anyone have there safety stewerd hat on today?

Yea, that's a typo. If you click on the RallyCross it says SA95/M95

Look at it this way, your M2005 helmet is good for at least another 7, maybe 13 years, before you'd have to update it for RXing.
