Changed my oil this past weekend, slipped my mind and forgot to put the drain bolt washer on. Should i be worried about oil loss?

The only way you will know is to look....you MIGHT be okay though. If its not leaking dont worry about it till next time.

yea might want to throw a piece of cardboard or something under you car when you park jsut to help keep an eye out for any leaks. keep an eye on the level. Do you have an oil pressure gauge?

This. If it doesn't leak right away it probably won't at all. If your oil pressure light comes on while driving, though, you better kill that engine quick.

Usually by the time the light comes on the engine is done anyway.

Worrying about oil pressure sounds a bit excessive imho, you'd have to be leaking pretty badly to relieve all that pressure...

As stated above, just check for oil spots/leaking a little more than normal and respond accordingly.

I have heard if you wanna drop the plug and put on a washer you can get a small vacuum and attach it to the filler... then pull the plug... "apparently' the oil doesnt drop out..

let us know if it works ;)

one change should'nt hurt. its when it gets re used over and over is when it starts to leak. just for safety i change mine every time but one miss is ok (ive done it too and no leaks)

I have never looked, do Subarus have low oil level light or low oil pressure light? My last car had a low oil level light and it would turn on right as the oil hit low on the dip stick. Same car had a oil pressure guage too though.

They have an oil pressure light, but it's only active when your oil pressure is below around 2-3 PSI (at which point if you're still driving your engine is toast).

Yeah, about the only time the engine oil pressure light will do any "good" is if you're just idling and you see it the second it starts flickering.

That doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Does anyone make an aftermarket oil pressure sensor/ switch that would trip at a higher psi? Or isnt it like an oil pressure sending unit you would typically see on a car with an oil pressure guage. A cheaper alternative to gettting an oil pressure guage perhaps.

Or if your idling and lose 5 quarts of oil in 2 seconds, light would come on, and your engine would still be fine
