I'm simply nipping a trend in the bud before it gets out of hand. Throwing out ideas = offering ideas and constructive criticism that further the task at hand. Using bolded text of a word and giving an incorrect or truncated definition of that word in a trite and condescending way = being bullheaded and argumentative.
sniff sniff...they like Mnbodyman's better than mine lol jk I blame Lowrider for leading me astray haha. I personally like the simple banner better as well. I know my photoshop skills are noobish, but I figured I'd try to get things rollin. Honestly though, at this point idk who's opinion to go by.
We are rebranding everything to MNSOC. www.mnsubaru.com will still work, and will be the actual address, but everything else will be MNSOC.
Here is my go. I have all of this in giant size (over 2000px x 8000px) so it can be resized, etc. All of the cars are separated and we can make them any color/move around. Text can change. Didn't know where to add the Minnesota state symbol. Background is transparent but we can make it any color we want, just made it gray for this actual picture. (could have background of whatever it's laid on) Also the rounded-corner stroke can be as wide and encompassing as it needs to be. Let me know. Edited with some more wording and a Minnesota logo.
That would be bitchin if you got the 06,04,02 in there. And even tossed in an 00 front end. Maybe bring them tighter together (by just a teensy bit) toss the RS on the other end, and Make one silver or something. 4 09STis is kinda wierd looking.
Here's how it could look on the new dark layout. Light is usually easier to lay stuff on so I didn't make an example of that.
I could do different Subaru models. So far I've found good front ends of the Forester and the Legacy, besides the STI that I already have. I can probably also find the Tribeca and the Outback. Is that too many? All would be 2010.
I actually really like that. All the different models would also be cool, but seriously, this is a great contribution, as it could look phenomenal with both color schemes. Thanks!!
Yea, stock photos. Taking pictures is fine, but they'd need to be at the correct angle/height and with a pretty light and solid colored background, and have light pointed from the front. These stock photos I'm finding are pretty incredible, I mean take a look: http://images.newcars.com/images/ca...All-wheel-Drive-Wagon-Exterior-Front-View.png. I used a similar one for the STI.
So not without a lot of work... haha. I do like the idea of different models too, but I guess it would depend on what you can find.
Np. It's good to get back into Photoshop after being the behind-the-scenes guy for so long (programmer for a living).
I'd like to see an Impreza, Legacy, Forester, and Outback layout. Maybe even replace the Outback with a Baja, Brat, or older Impreza.
Hmm, wish they didn't all look so damn similar. Subaru is definitely getting more and more vanilla with there styling. I'm gonna try my hand at mixing in different years of cars into one logo once I have some time on Sunday night or Monday. I just noticed what you did with the MNSOC logo. I like it alot! If we could incorporate the stars or swoosh in there, it would be damn near perfect!
Could do something like this. Or Kinda small when in the Minnesota stamp, but this header will be a little bigger I'd imagine.
This is a lot cleaner looking than having the MN stamp as dark as the lettering but still too busy. I would actually say to take the cars out, all you are doing by adding the cars is putting an expiration date on the logo. Just like we have today with the bugeye.
Thanks again for all the input. Just to let everyone know, I have been grabbing some of these and dumping on to the test site. Pending when my family gets into town, I will try and get a couple of screen shots up of what they look like. Russ
My fav 3 so far, and this is ON the test site. I am also the one making the dark theme, so that is why the screens are from the dark theme. If I have time to play around with the light theme, I will post up a couple screens from that one. Russ
Very nice Russ. I really dig the cars from 1 or 2 with the MNSOC from the second. The variety of models is more inclusive, and that outline of MN really works.
I like the third dark theme as well. Also, I think it would look better with the previous generation outback, legacy, and forester front ends because they are more common, and differ more in looks IMHO. The 2010's kind of blend together
THe 2010s are all he can find, though - there aren't pictures of the older styles. Unless someone feels like digging through google.
I say we have no cars in the logo at all to avoid offending people who own a different car than what could be in the logo. I actually prefer the 3rd one as well in the dark theme. Keep up the good work, guys/girls.
Hey everybody, I had a little extra time today and mounted my first design up on the light and dark themes and changed a few little things. Of course, all the colors/fonts/words can all be changed since it's in Photoshop. I love McTenold's design also! We are friends, so we are having some fun with this... I'm also working on a new design that will incorporate the Panoramic Picture from page #1 of this thread. I'll post it up when I'm done.
Is this such a bad thing? I cant imagine it being that bad to have it updated every few years....... keeps it from being....the same ol, same ol
If you have a standard logo and create stickers (as we have here), changing the logo every few years makes that a pain. Much less the cards that are printed up with the suby logo on it. Basically, you look at most organizations and they will go a LONG time before they update their logo because you get brand equity with it. It should be a 'set it and forget it' kind of thing. If you design it right, you shouldn't have to update it.
I can appreciate and agree with what your saying. My thinking was just keep the "font and look of the wording" the way you set/want it, so the layout of the banner can change with out changing the essence of brand.
Maybe it should be a race/rally car instead of a road car, then no one gets offended. Then change the car every once in awhile and leave the MNSOC stuff the same?
Our hopes/plans are to change the logo every so often based on the time of year. Example: Halloween based one for october, or some sort of fall-based thing. Maybe a winter one for this time of year. You know, Like how google does stuff sometimes. I love all the work from all of you. Thank you for helping out! -Ryan
