i'd like to tint my car soon to 50% and not run into this problem, it's to bad that some lame officer has it in for you. where did you get your tint done?

a shop in Prior Lake...don't remember the name

my tint is technically 55% now, but it still reads low on this said officers meter.

thats to bad, i have a feeling the low readings is partly caused by the clarity of the OEM glass. i've seen posted else where on the boards that un tinted glass on cars can get a read out of 90 to even as low as 80%, next time you have the cops tint o meter check the windshield for comparison. this knowledge could be used when discussing the law regarding tint, does the window plus the tint have to be above 50% or does only the tint have to be above 50%, after reading the stature i can away with the understanding that only the tint had to be 50%, imo. perhaps others (like nm+ ) would know more.

Well tint is coming off. Our favorite EP cop pulled me over on the way to work and gave me a ticket. He had some fat chick eating cheetos in the passanger seat, wtf? 4th ticket I've gotten from that guy.

I had to do the same thing. I loved my tint, and now that it's gone I miss it even more.

His meter came up 30%, the actual tint is 35%

He was in a new black Durango, he went on the sidewalk to turn around to ticket me.

Good luck with the hearing, I'm pretty sure that guy is so uptight because he hasn't gotten laid in years. Or maybe that's what the cheeto eating fatty was for:puke:

that's one of my concerns with his metering device. Tint is currently at 54% and I had mine tested by a shop in EP (They also knew of this said officer) and their meter read IIRC 46/47/48/47%...whereas the cop's came up with 41/42/43. Right now I'm not legal according to him, but other sources say I am legal since the it has to be 50% (+/- 3%)

Before I had my car re-tinted this cop has metered me a few times and his was NOT consist (my 2nd strongest arguement) He's metered 34%, 30%, and I think 31%- when my tint was 35%.

3rd- If he is checking window tint he must do it properly. He has a habit of wiping his fingers on the window (to supposedly clean the window) when in fact he is leaving a flim of oil on the window from his fingers. A clean rag is the preferred method. Doing it with his method will cause inconsistent readings.

I also have a bottle of window cleaner and a rag in my trunk in case I get stopped again.

Not like I'm going to bring this all up to the court hearing officer, but these are valid points and will be used IF needed.

plant your foot up their asses scuba!

they are just mad because they are under funded so the higher-ups put pressure on the cops to get more money flowing through tickets

    Gud luck

Wow, yeah I was thinking of going with a legal tint, but it seems hardly worth it.

^^ yes and no. I was originally pulled over three times for 35% tint. This is now 54% film, but the same officer still beleives it's still too dark. I've had other places test it and it's right on the edge of legal.

I usually go to minnetonka (ridgedale) court, but went to Southdale this time....scheduling reasons.

I honestly couldn't tell there was any sort of added tint in the above pics, that cop needs to take his head out of his butt.

That's great to hear. Glad you got a good hearing officer. It's not like you're trying to be non compliant with the law. You're just doing everything you can to be legal.

Oh I remember your old tint, it was dark like mine was.

I knew you were trying to get it legal, and that he was giving you a hard time about it. Hopefully things settle down in good old EP, and he finds someone else to hassle.

Yeah, go get some really dark tint so he leaves me alone LOL

    That guy is a prick.

I'm just going to take all the tint off and run clear glass, even though my tint now is lighter than the OEM tint on my wife's Nissan Quest.
