I just threw a cel. P0244-Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid A Range/ Performance( high output) So I'm just guessing that I wouldn't have this problem if I wouldn't have been a cheap ass and actually bought a gm solenoid? I was getting on my car pretty hard when boost just cut and now it will hit 1.3 bar and then the wg flutters and just doesn't sound right. Any ideas on what this could be or is it just the solenoid being weak?
Fuel cut. The flutter sound also means you are getting too much air when you should not and arent supplying enough fuel to mix with. That's why the stock one doesn't boost all the way like other cars because its precisley controlled. You are going to need the STOCK one back ASAP. Go get the STOCK solenoid back and clear the engine code. That will reset the boost cut so you wont hit it everytime. Same thing happens with boost controllers(my experience)
Hold on a second here -- are you saying that you installed a GM BCS after being tuned on the stock boost solenoid?!?
no, I'm saying I was too cheap to buy the gm bcs and just got tuned without it and I'm still running stock bcs
Joe welcome to the wonderful world of boost creep. Let me guess this happened in fourth or fifth gear? Also Joe when are you going to be down to the cities again. I think I experience the same boost issue where it cut out.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't normal, why would it throw a cel if it was just creep. I've gotten on it plenty before but for some reason today it just didn't want to hold. wouldn't the ecu just call for more fuel rather than cutting? and I'm not sure when I'll be to the cities next other than for lacrosse
Joe I have hit the fuel cut just randomly too. I cant explain why it happens some days and not others. The reason you can hit it on the vf39 is cause the waste gate can't move enough exhaust air. Causing more air to go through the turbo and create more boost. Now the computer has to try and stop the car from over boosting. So since its got the waste gate wide open it goes for the next thing to cut. So it takes out the fuel. Causing the engine to loose power and not boost.
There's a programmed in limit for "overboost" fuel cut that is a 2d table referenced against atmospheric pressure. When that limit is reached, you will feel a hard fuel cut and then will get a CEL. Whether or not it was caused by boost creep is debateable. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 85% of these so-called "boost creep" issues that people claim are actually not true boost creep.
And I gotta say something else. Where did you copy paste this from? Spelling...grammar...punctuation....it all checks out as pretty close to correct. That can't be you.
Maybe I didn't raise your fuel cut boost limit enough. Better to hit the fuel cut than to be hitting 22 psi, though. Boost creep is not the same as just overshooting target boost. Boost creep happens at high RPMs. Now would be a good time for you to figure out how to datalog.
haha yeah that is quite possible. I'm gonna go rip today and see what happens and I'll let you guys know
Well if you want to try to make it come back on again, you can mash and hold the gas in 5th gear and see if it does it again.
