Ha ha ha ha.... can't wait to see the next thread you post whining about a ticket or someone breaking into your car....
Yea, About a ticket if i broke the law and got a ticket i will pay it. I understand taking responsibility for what laws i break. If someone breaks into my car ill call the police. They wont do **** about it but ill file a report. They get paid by my tax money to do that. Now i can hate them if i want.
where do you work? just wondering so if I buy anything that is made by your employer I call the right to hate on you too!!
Eheh don't worry everyone else already does for it = D come one? i work at comcast! 50by5 who can hate me?
Don't hate the police officers. Hate the system in which they're forced to work, and hate the fact that we need police in the first place.
I think I know whos the new choad of the site is, just as others have described him in person, holds true on the internet.
With the exception of emissions regs (which can be easily avoided if you're not an idiot), CA is baiscally a car lover's paradise. Amazing roads, no salt, good weather, CHP thats actually pretty lax compared to most states, etc.
This topic really bothers me. Not that it was posted, but because of the bs we have to put up with our cars. Not all imports are created equal. We are not all street racers and trouble makers. The fact that this was in a lot where people were just gathering and hanging out is rediculous. What about all the other modified cars out there that are not imports? This is like car racism! Just lame. Is there anything we can do to change the taste in peoples mouths about cars like ours? Any ideas to change views of officers in our area?
the real question is, when will the police crack down on all the trucks with loud ass, annoying exhaust, window tint and underage girls in there, naked.
It's a good movie, but it's like Matrix mixed with 1984 .. and it's too damn long. If they had cut like an hour out of it, it would have been fine.
Did the Police even use loitering as a reason, or was it purely because of being import tuning enthusiasts gathering together?
Specifically? Shun street racers. I know the issue is over played and the number of deaths caused by street racing are so small as to be insignificant, but that doesn't matter. Police and the general public have a very nasty view of street racers and some of it is based on fact, others on F&F. This would take more than just subarus doing it though. We're for better or worse tied to the whole "import" scene. Another thing that would do more than people realize: No front plates and tint pisses the **** out of cops. Things that might be more doable at least as it comes to firestone: Don't allow it to be used as a starting off point for street racing. Yes, it happens, and its going to happen somewhere. But it doesn't have to happen at firestone. No ****ery near Firestone. Drive the university area like there's a cop behind you at all times. Most of us like to show off, but this is akin to crapping where we eat. This draws undo attention to ourselves. If cops do come by me nicer than you think you have to (without allowing him to violate your rights) Paint a chevy logo on your car. Cops love domestics. This is why the get away with more. The fact that the porky's people can do it doesn't mean we "can" even if we "should" be ale to. Other things: PR stuff: The club could do something "good" for the community. Whether this is donating sums of money to STP PD windows and orphans fund or doing an adopt a highway thing or doing some other type of volunteer work helps raise us from "punk kids" to "citizens." Also, should we somehow get in trouble, its a nice little soundbite for the press. Why do you think the harley people do those toys for tots things? They're very public and projects a very positive image. Police ride alongs: This can help in two ways. 1: Get you in better touch with how police think and act. 2. Get police to know people in our community are not anti-police. Bonus points if you get the local precinct. having police know your face from somewhere thats not a ticket/arrest is invaluble. In the end of the day, if you're an unknown to anyone, they will treat you with some distrust, become known as someone who's an honest citizen and they will treat you with more deference. The problem with the import car scene is that it has a very negative public image thanks to the media and acts of certain members. There has been no effective push to make it clear to society at large that we are just like them except with a somewhat unhealthy obsession with turbos. Where we need some PR, we have people just saying "they're not with us" without demonstrating why. The St. Paul Police department is a fairly reasonable dept, probably the best in the twin cities area. Show some signals that we're more mature than they think and that will help. I would also note that I've noticed people levaing trash in the lot. We should endevor to leave it cleaner than when we showed up. Or we could just give out free donuts. edit: You know, I poste dthe donut thing as a joke, but if we brought 2 dozen donuts (or some other similar food) every night, put up a sign that said, free donuts for on-duty law enforcement, we'd become pretty ****ing popular.
Meh, everything south of San Louis Obispo should be cut off and sold to the highest bidder, or made into it's own state so Nor-Cal can keep it's tax dollars and water. I have easily avoided the emissions regs with my Neon for years. That's because it's registered in one of the 5 counties that has no emission regulations. CHP isn't lax, there are just laws that allow you to speed... ask me about that one sometime. The lot was most likely full of street racers. In the bay area the kids would meet up at one of two locations, both shopping areas, then head out to the race spots. We are talking 100+ cars, filled with idiot teenagers/20-somethings, driving 90% illegally modded hondas. Loud music, scantly clad women, basically a scene from FNF. Anytime this happens, there is always going to be cops around. Then they would migrate at midnight to the first of 4 spots to race. Parades of sport compacts 4-way flashers blinking away, they would form convoys of 40/50 cars at a time. This went on EVERY friday and saturday night damn near year around. Some of us that were into racing, and not getting caught came up with a better plan. But I am unable to speak it's name due to the first rule of.... Streetracing is a crime, it's illegal as ****, and still people do it. The racing scene started getting a very bad rap in the bay area, and all the kids wanted was some place to race. There were petitions to use the runways at the now abandoned Alameda Naval Air Station, but because of movies like FNF a bad light was brought on the scene. I was an admin on what started as a bay area streetracing web page "www.streetracing.org" but quickly grew into something VERY big. To change the publics perception of our scene, and do something good for the community I planned a few charity events. The first event I put on was a car show/drive in, which required one toy per car for Toys-For-Tots. We brought in just over 1200 toys into the charity, had good press coverage, and all was going well. The owner of the website began seeing dollar signs which was seen as "selling out" and all the true racing and car people left. You can find most on forums like cornercarvers writing articles and dispensing some of the best tuning advise out there. All of this accelerated the police targeting of the street racing and tuner scene in Ca. Raids, roadblocks, mass arrests and impounds, to the state wide laws being passed to combat this evil threat to society... racing low powered cars in remote areas in the middle of the night. We were organized, "safe" and kept it on tracks that had plenty of run out, and ample parking off track. Once the powers that be targeted us more, the racing spilled onto day time stop light runs, housing areas, and other DUMB things. The "safe" outlet for these kids was gone, and they found a way to make it happen. Which brought only a worse light onto the scene, causing more problems. Being an adult, and a member of the law enforcement community (thankfully almost done with that!) I see the battle from both sides of the fence. I still drive fast, brake late, and apex early. It's in my blood, and I have the training and experience to drive my car safely at speed. I am also smart and mature enough to conduct this activity away from the public eye. Furthermore the couple tickets I have received in my younger days were never argued. I was ALWAYS polite to the officer because I know he is doing his job, and I was doing something I wasn't supposed to. I took my tickets with a "thank you sir" and paid for my crimes. But let it be known, with my attitude I have got out of 8 times more tickets than I was given. I don't yell at my waitress for bringing me a refill on my soda, I don't get angry with my plumber for fixing a leaking facet. And in tune I don't throw a fit when I am pulled over for breaking a law.
Ok, i'm with you on that, though San Diego i can take or leave. Steal our water, steal our money, and cheat in basketball They're talking about taking away Sacramento's right to the water from rivers that threaten to flood it each year so some ****hole in Orange County can have a green lawn and a pool. Right now, I'm having no issues finding CARB legal parts for the LGT (I'm pretty shocked actually), but should i need to, I can either register at my parents house in very northern Sonoma County, or I might buy a squarefoot and a mailbox in Amador county I think this could be avoided with MN Subaru learning from experence. I think it would be very exciting to show that car communities car about thinsg other than themselves and thier cars.
Touche. They could pretend? I don't know many people with gripes against STP police and thats the only one that really matters in this case. I don't pretend that we wouldn't need to change hearts and minds for this to work fully. But it would be a huge boon to have better relations with the police. Also note that if the police would think subaru=good, you wouldn't get pulled over as often
oh.. I agree whole heartedly with all you have posted.. just making a comment as a 34yr old father of 3, ex-business owner and yada yada... I feel although I am sometimes very immature in my tom-foolery I aint an immature jackass like a lot of this forum has become of late!!!
