I was in a small accident that required me to replace my front right control arm as well as wheel bearing. The work was done by Abra auto in Eagan. Ive noticed a clunk or pop noise coming from the affected area when i am turning at low speeds. It is usually on close to 90 degree turns. It has happened ever since the repair and i noticed it right off the bat after getting my car back. I told Abra and the guy informed me that it was most likely a bushing being broken in. I dont have much suspension knowledge and I'm sure this is an easy diagnosis but, What is it? UPDATE 03/05/13: So I took it back to ABRA who ended up replacing the Strut of all things. They told me the CV joint looks fine as do the endlinks. They told me they've looked at everything and found that it's all good. It isn't. IT IS STILL DOING IT. I'm wondering what I should do. I'm getting tired of this back and forth.
I would tell them to replace the cv add that is likely the culprit if our is only doing it when making sharp turns. Gl
my vote is messed up sway bar and/or end link. Otherwise if all else fails, take to Jeff the Alignment guy. He knows his suspension stuff.
I had a broken end link when I first got my car. It would give the occasional clunk when going over bumps. Not really around corners. The stud came out of the ball joint and would catch sometimes on the link and pop/clunk. Its pretty easy to diagnos, just stick your head behind the wheel and look for the sway bar and at the end make sure the endlink is intact. also and easy fix just two bolts and you have your self a new one.
