I lost count of how many people I went around that were stuck. Maybe I should go buy a tow strap and pull some people out of their drive way! It's deep out there! Fun stuff. Almost a foot at my garage door. None drift. My buddies STI almost got stuck earlier for fun. When I got back from errands today...
BTW, thanks for honking as you went by when I was stuck in the entrance to Arby's trying to get lunch for my pregnant wife and her boss instead of pulling over and helping. Just saying.......
lol....it looked like 6 guys had u covered...besides I have no tow strap, but again I saw you driftin somewhere in that red thing irc havin fun. do u have snow tires and sand bags in that mr2
I have snow tires and one-wheel drive. The second time you saw me I was by my apartment so I could admit defeat and grab the CRV so I could finally get the food back to them. Those guys that were helping were the workers from Arbys. Could've used extra help though. That was the first time I got stuck in all of the time I drive that little thing out in the snow. BTW, I had a tow strap, but no one to pull me out. Would've been nice if you could've stopped and asked. Would've thunk, I screw around all over and never get stuck. But the one time I'm doing something that needs to be done, I get hung up.
now that u noticed me, and that you on the forum too...ill keep that in mind and show some suby love next time....
I thought that's why you honked in the first place. Oh well. Next time maybe we'll go around and do some drifting. There's a nice industrial park just north of my apartment that has some nice little empty roads to play on. A lane and a half on each side makes for easy u-turns!
This was from November 14th. Roads were pretty good but still lots of cars in the ditch (especially Toyota Prius). Taken from my phone so bad quality.
this is what it was like when i was going home from work... i couldnt see where the road was, i think it was way dangerous to be playing around in the snow! View attachment 23857
Yeah for the most part Id agree, people in cars that dont do so good in the snow were pretty sketchy. And the roads were definetly BAD... But fun. Heres a picture at the end of my road, county road 66 and hwy 3 in Farmington.. We got 18.5 in here
Still trying to dig out my project car... Once I get it out I'm going to have to dig out the garage next...
Went out on Saturday, but all the entrances to my usual drifting spots where plowed in by waist deep snow so there was no avail. Although my buddy and I did help push and shovel out about 15 people at Hyland Hills over flow lot. But we did snap a couple pics of writing on the backs of our cars. My friend in his S4 is convinced that everyone drives too slow but still follows me around in my '97 LGT. haha View attachment 23884 View attachment 23883
Went to the empty lot next to my work on lunch to make some donuts. Was able to pull off some nice little tight ones. Some of it's kind of sloppy as you can tell by the bottom of my car. Looks like a frozen beard
This was more like it. Reasonable temperatures, light fluffy snow, almost no traffic. I <3 my Blizzaks!!!
Video works for me. Curious what lens you used and what you used to support it? Was the slo mo footage shot at 60fps and pulled down to 24fps? Only things I would recommend are to expose for the snow, so it's not so blown out, and show more in real time so you can tell how fast you are actually going
I am using a Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/583991-REG/Tamron_B001C_700_SP_AF_10_24mm_f.html if you're looking for it) I believe it was pulled down to 24fps as iMovie does at a default. I am getting Final Cut Pro next week so I will be able to do a lot better stuff with that. But I agree, I should have set everything for the snow, but I hadn't really noticed it until I had gotten back. iMovie doesn't do much for editing exposure and such so I had to work with what I had. As for what I used to support it, I had my tripod set up with my seatbelt around it (for safety of course) in the passenger seat with my camera bag behind it to hold it up a little bit. I'm sure throughout my break I will get another edit up that is a bit better than this one. Two of my friends are really good at making edits, we all own a company (angledlines) and I am more of the photographer than videographer. But yeah, most of the video is sped up to 120% to make it pretty short.
From the first snowfall: I haven't been out making a point to play since then, and having the car in the body shop since the 10th (stupid ****er didn't yield a left turn) I missed the last two storms, so I'm sure I'll have more pics soon. Next time people meet at Firestone to go play I'll probably show up.
ive been having soo much fun this winter already in Saint Cloud! this rain sucked for the snowboarding conditions but parking lots happen to be extra slippery
More donuts at lunch. Fresh layer from the overnight snowfall made for a nice surface. It feels so cool when it gets into that minimal degree radius spin!
This is a video from the touring rally that I was in last weekend near Duluth. I'm pretty sure the only thing we did correctly was stay on the route. That said we had a lot of fun on the awesome snow covered roads. This video highlights one of those roads as well as my complete inability to listen to my co-driver/execute an e-brake turn/remember to turn the traction control off. There's also some banter between my co-driver and wife who was the one doing the video taping. Enjoy...
And a few more shots from last weekends touring rally. That's my co-driver on the left at the ice bar looking like a woodsman... View attachment 24036 View attachment 24037 View attachment 24038
5" in spots on the highways (55 and 100) and 6" on the less busy side streets. Most fun I've had driving home from work in a while.
