So when I had my oil change I was told that I need to replace the power steering / alternator belt soon. This looks like a pretty straight forward replacement so should I stick with OEM belts or is there something better or cheaper out there? Also any tricks to know how would be great or anything else I should take a look at while I 'am at it? 09 WRX little over 50k ******************thanks D
Life is always easier with the proper tool but I recently replaced mine without one and it was alright if you don't mind some scraped knuckles.
Are we talking about the PS/Alternator belt or the AC belt? The newer cars have a stretch belt for AC, but the PS/Alternator still uses the tensioner on the alternator. Should be a 5 min swap.
That is actually what I did. I just scraped my knuckles on the stapler. I actually drag my knuckles everywhere I go though, here is a self portrait:
