i just was randomly looking around the subaru site and happened to come across the warranty information for my car and it turns out the powertrain warranty is still in effect for a little while longer. is it worth it to bring my car somewhere and have it checked out for any of the areas the warranty is covered, or, is subaru not very good at honoring these sorts of things?
If its anything like Toyota/Lexus warranty, they are not allowed to upsell warranty parts without a complaint. Example: A car comes in for an oil change and its in warranty. While doing the oil change, the tech notices that both front struts are leaking. If the customer isn't complaining about a leak or a ride quality issue, those struts can NOT be replaced under warranty. Stupid, I know. EDIT: If it is a hazardous issue (say a brake caliper loose) then it WILL be replaced under warranty. SO, unless you have a complaint about something, they really can't check it out. You COULD bring it to another shop and say you want an inspection and see if something is wrong with it there.
thanks for the reply. that is interesting. in my original post i meant to ask if i should bring it to a non subaru dealership for an inspection before i would bring it to subaru, but you answered that for me. thank you.
Subaru is really good about Warranty Issues. Its the Out of Warranty concerns that i've seen being a pain in the arss.
