talk to me about sti quick ratio steering...is this something i could just swap off of an sti and put it on the L? i'd assume i'd just need the rack and column?

I believe the '04 rack&pinion would be a direct swap. The '05+ you need it's crossmember w/ the rack&pinion. OR you can just do a steering colume.

Try the press. its worth a shot. make sure you apply some heat to it to ease things out. otherwise i would drill out the center of the axle spline and (completely destroy the axle) and force it out. otherwise just go to the junkyard and get another hub. pretty sure that any awd impreza hub should work.

but then he'll hafta get it pressed in, might as well get a bearing and seals while hes doing that. Get a big air hammer and soak the splines with PB blaster, and then just hammer the hell out of it, mine took half an hour of straight air hammering to get out, the axle was totally ruined, luckily thats why it was coming out, it was junk.

the way speedyham and i tried put more force on it than an air hammer does...and yep, we soaked it in pb blaster and put a torch on it. still no movement.

I have the tools to bend and flare the lines, But i'm going with steel braided line for all 4 wheels (it's only like ~200 for Earls lines and fittings) and my E-brake is going to plumb to my rear brakes rather then the "ebrake"

might as well go with new stainless tubes if you're going to have to redo it. plus if you use a abs brake booster/cylinder with and non-abs setup, you'll get lots of brake squish (or so i've read)

very nice, glad you finally got your stuff, as far as the rack goes i used the wrx one, it works but when you get it aligned they tend to bitch and moan because you have to adjust it all the way in because of the wider track on the wrx.

Looks good so far. if you need a hand let me know.

i figured you would be able to use the L column and rack with the swap, but maybe not if you are doing the whole x-member swap. I think the Ls have a quicker rack than the WRXs.

are you just going to rattle can the engine bay or are you going to have it actually sprayed? rattle can doesnt hold up to well.

also what are you doing with the old parts? the 2.2l, wiring and the auto trans?
