Well, the WRX is gone so it is time to move on to a new project. For now, the FXT will work out perfect for me. I don't use my truck like it is a truck, so a awd DD car with a bit more space would be perfect. So here it is in almost its stock glory. And after the 2nd-3rd free mod. Next up is the sport grill and then summer rims/tires. Russ
Black, I would love it until I have to clean it, so that was out Dark grey (almost black), IMPOSSIBLE to find in a FXT white, not a fan of the pearl. If it was bright white, that what you would be looking at. Silver, didn't want to be like 95% of everyone else on the road blue, green, gold, hell no! So red it is. Russ
ok.. makes sense... ps.. Great buy man.. I have to come for a ride in it.. I have not been convinced about the new shape, but every now and then on the Forester site I see one that has been subtly modded and looks freeeeaking hot
Great! Another Forester in the club Finish the look with the Sport Grills? Now check in over at www.subaruforester.org
I wished they came with the 5spd auto....with the 3.272FD instead of the 3.083FD. I really do!!! The gearing would be so much better. Better drive ability.
I will try to get some pics tonight. For now, plans are rims/tires. The stock geolanders are the suck. Then front and rear anti-roll bars, HD mounts and endlinks, maybe some lowering springs, then stg2. I need to get some miles on it before I get all crazy with motor mods. That would be nice. First thing I noticed is at about 70mph I am only running a hair over 2500rpm, and I think the wrx was up around 3k. I also miss the converter and VB, but we will see how this one reacts once I start to get some more miles on it. Russ
Awesome. This is exactly the truck... er.. vehicle? I'm planning on buying next fall. You even got the color I wanted. Can't wait to see some mods!
Swift is in the progress of making springs for it. Still in R&D but expect a similar drop like the old FXT springs on the earlier gen Foresters and better handling balance then stock but still stockish spring rates since they will be used on oem struts. I wonder if there are any bushings out for it yet? (Group N, Kartboy, Whiteline) ...or a bigger rear sway.
Honestly I have no idea. I would guess it is the same as the LGT or WRX, but there really isn't much info floating around on them yet. Front and rear anti-roll bars are just the 08+ STI bars, so that is covered, and the swift springs are done. They have a GB going on with them now. I think it was 3/4 inch drop. I would have to look up the spring rates again, but I was thinking something like 250 front 200 rear, or something like that. As soon as I can get all my misc parts sold, then I will be able to start picking up some of the new parts. Russ
Looks good! Though ours isn't an xt we still love it. I debadged it within hours too. Just a heads up if you haven't read or didn't plan on reading the directions. The sport grill does require taking off the front bumper, which is no big deal but it would have been nice to have a helper near by. heres the few things that may help you on your modding path. 20% front the rest is factory 6000k ebay HID headlights and fogs/driving lights. I know some people a die hards about light output/beam pattern etc. I just like the look. the road lights up real nicely and I can drive the STi in front of it and it doesn't blind me at all, really.
I already have some 4500k HID's on the way and the sports grill on the way. Tint I plan on doing 35% all the way around (over the factory tint also), and maybe 20% for the huge skylight and a 5% windshield strip. Here are a couple if interior pics for Bill. Russ
I really like that rear cupholder.. although in my car.. not much point.. also the RED is nice.. was just stirring Billiam..
FWIW, I recommend the 5% "eyebrow" tint on the moonroof. I have it on my wagon if you'd like to check it out. You'll still see everything you need to but it will help not roast the cabin. Better yet, get the metallicized stuff for the moonroof tint to reflect more heat in the summer. When you want real sunlight you can open the roof.
And for the next batch of updates. Stock grill. Removing the whole front end to replace the stock grill. Part of a feathery friend that I found I thought it was weird that the air box and filter was full of feathers when I pulled it apart, and now I know why. The new grill And the finished project Russ
And while I had everything apart. I figured it was a perfect time for... 4500K for the lows and fogs. I disabled the DRL and I removed the HUGE airbox silencer. And now on to the new treads. All this and a gallon of milk. Russ
