ok, time to start working on this beast.

We are excited to now have Deltacam on board as an official sponsor of the car!! We now have a set of fully built heads from Deltacam. I havent had a chance to play with them yet, been sitting in the box..more info to come on this though. I will say the guys over at deltacam have been awesome to work with!

    starting to drop some weight...
swapping stock seats for Corbeau CR-1. ditching misc interior panels.

engine is out. typical spun rod bearing, now i have to find a 2.5n/a asap for ice races
coming up in a month. anyone have one?

the popular ebay borla knockoff. going to coat and wrap it up. anyone have issues with them cracking after wrapping?

My understanding is that it accelerates the issue. However, if you're ceramic coating first, you will provide some protection to the metal.

If this is specifically a racing car, why the lesser power of the Borla design?

The lesser power would be water under the bridge. Its something like 2 whp for upwards of $500. I recall pete paying damn near a grand for his cobb EL headers.

With the EGT's you'll be seeing from the NA motor, it should not be an issue. My factory exhaust manifold is wrapped with plain jane wrap, not sealed with that silicone stuff or anything, and my manifold has been fine with hot spots up to 1700°. Your typical 304 stainless stays strong up to the melting point. You won't be spending time over 2800° F, so the only things to worry about is the quality of the welds, the filler material, and what stresses are built into it. I've been under the attitude of "meh, if the weld cracks, I'll fix it."

I've had those same style headers for 3yrs+ on my turbo set up. And have not had any problem with them at all.

yea, I had to yank on my replica to get it to fit. luckily there's rather substantial distance before the collector, so there is some play.

finally was able to do something i have been wanting to do for awhile..put a thermo-tec blanket over the top of the block to keep the radiant heat out of the intake manifold. this in conjuction with our Phenolic Spacers and our Thermal Coating will keep the intake manifold very COOL!!

updates. car is up and running now. didnt know that the valve lash wasnt adjusted so the valve tick was really loud. adjusted them to correct specs and its definitely quieter but still loud.

thank you to brian and erik over at tonka for getting those much needed bolts overnighted for me.

the car has just been fuji-fied...welded rear diff. i cant believe how much of a difference it makes...it is REALLY fun to let loose in the snow. i really wish i would have welded my diffs years ago cause its a blast. thanks again fuji!!

No problem! I had the same smile on my face when I did my first donut! Feels great! On dry you will even have lots more fun. You're going to have to relearn how to drive it because it totally changes the character of the car on and off throttle. You'll get used to it. You'll even learn left foot braking with it coming into turns.

Dao loves his welded rear diff in his SVX'd GC. It's nice to be able to just go WOT and you can do 180's just like that.

hmm...that's a new way to do it. cool. I've always seen people weld the spider gears to each other.
