I liked it up until I went riding with someone with a new one last year and it just died right on a 50 mph road, wouldn't restart.

    ECUs + Scooters = lame

    I'll take a carburetor.

yeah new scooters are just too comlicated. Scooters are not motorcycles they should be pretty simple.

Anyone have an idea how to paint the plastic on the scooter flat black and still have it protected from easy scratching? I tried clear coat and it made it much more shiny.

Krylon has that plastic paint, it will more than likely be glossy.

Yeah i did i think i will keep the ipod for now. I might get an 80 gig later when i get my "stimulus" money. But for now i will stick with this thing. I got the zuma instead of the stereo.

I used dupli-color paint for plastic. Its looks like its sticking ok. I just need to put a few more coats of it. I am almost done just need to paint the tail piece and the head light housing. Should look bad ass when i am finished.

That actually looks like a cool product. But that would work instead of paint right? Would it feel rubbery?

you mean the newere style? Would it fit? Btw Zak, do you know what could cause the scoot to bog when going from 3/4 of the throtle to wot at around 30mph? If i open the throttle all the way at 30mph the thing bogs and slows down but if I just go 3/4 it will go like 35-38 and not bog.

dont know real. I took the whole thing apart again yesterday and cleaned it again. It still does it. I tuned the carb again and it looks like it runs perfect from the dig and then when i get up to like 28mph and open the throttle all the way up it chokes, but if i slowly let go of the gas it starts to speed up. I read about it online and it said that if i pull on the choke lever and it runs worse it means that the bike runs to rich so i lowered the needle jet and it still does the same thing. I am suspecting bad reeds or old plug.

That could also be a problem with the float level...at least on my sled it was.

Zuma Fighter stage one completed (somewhat)

Apparently the stage one performance stuff is going to be here by friday. Polini 70cc big bore kit, 17.5 mm cab, variator, clutch and Polini super street exhaust. Cant wait to get it all going. I am thinking i am just going to put the pipe and see how much the pipe gives and then i will put the carb and see how that feels. Just to know what each thing does.

got all the parts for the scooter! Just put the pipe and the carb with a jet and the thing rips like crazy! Takes off like mad, if i sit a little closer to the back it wheelies! now it goes up to 40 or so and gets there super quick. I still need to put speed variator and the clutch springs and THE BIG BORE KIT!!

project zuma fighter is finished( stage número 2) just finished installing the 70cc kit!! I can say it was easier that the turbo inlet hose. All in all it took me a few hours. Here is what is already on the scoot: Polini corsa 70cc kit, polini super sport(not street) exhaust( pretty sure its titanium), 17.5mm carb and jets, speed variator and weights, carbon fiber reeds. Result: amazing speed and crazy acceleration. Now it really pops wheelie like mad, I did not go full speed on it cause i want to break it in first, but I did go past 40 which is the top speed on the spedo.
Things to come soon: straight cut gears, polini cone filter, set of weights for the variator, motocross steering bar adaptor and the bar!

did you get he malossi gears? polini is a good company their stuff is really solid.

now lighten up those weights and mess with the clutch springs and you'll be popping wheelies automatically.

no I did not get the gears yet. That'd the next thing I will get. Yeah I definetly need lighter weights. Not too light though, I still want to go fast:). I know my stock weights a a bit lighter. Would it work if I put hal of the lighter ones and half of the heavier ones?

no, do not mix sizes of weights. go with entirely the same weights of the same age in the same set otherwise they will wear differently.

ah, ok. Will do. So if the scoot is not revving in the powerband but a bit lower does that mean the weights are too heavy? I can not find a good site that has all the info about what each part in the scooter does. I mean i am a noob in tuning scooters and dont really know what stiffer spring does or what little clutch springs do. I got new clutch springs(the little once) and to be honest i dont even know where to put them. I have no idea how i put all the cylinder together with no instructions and it worked.

that means your weights are too heavy. It is not allowing the variator to spool all the way up, but it probably giving it better top end power. Heavier weights push the powerband to the right, lighter weights push it to the left (dyno chart speaking)

The clutch is on the back of the transission, the other thing the belt goes around. You can take off the bell housing on the outside and inside you'll see htis:

the 3 springs there use tension to release with force against the bell housing to engage the clutch. the lighter the spring tension is, the sooner they engage/the sooner the clutch engages in the powerband. If you want to get off the line fast, good clutch springs make a difference. A nice whole upgraded clutch can hold more power as well without slipping when it wears.

awesome, that help thanks. I got yellow springs. You think i should just get a whole new clutch assembly? Another question i got for you: are there speedometers that are electronic and are easy to install? I know that Rattler buck ten or whatever it is called has one that would be awesome for my set up but i dont know if it will fit without modding.

Yeah i was thinking about that. I might do that, but i know there are ones that are made for zumas and go right instead of the stock one in that same hole in the front wheel and power of the bikes batter and have a ton of other special features.

Leo Vince gave the ok to mix rollers in their directions so I did. I beleive they just said to stagger them. I'm in no way a Zuma expert so I'm not saying you're wrong or they're right... just what I read.

A little update. So i got a new filter and had to drill out the main jet so i did not have to pull out the choke on wot. Another thing i got was a motorcross steering bar and an adaptor so i got rid of the stock dash and all the rest of the stuff. So the front is even lighter now. Its hard to keep this little thing on the ground when taking of the line.
Here are a couple crappy pics. It does go 55 and get there very quickly.

Around 800 for everything. The pipe, carb, 70cc kit, and variator was 500 or so and the rest was all the little things. But to make it go 50+ you need around $500. It is still cheaper than if i bought a working one for 1300.

    Thats why my Zuma Rules:fiddy:
