My engine is out of the car and a flywheel is in pretty bad shape. Clutch is kinda worn so it seems like a good time to do it. Might make sense to upgrade it a bit too.

So what are my options besides OEM?

I remember reading somewhere that 02-05 WRX flywheel/ clutch would bolt-up, is that true? Cause when looking at exedy catalog, it shows slightly different diameter for 02-05wrx and 91-94SS clutch kits (no flywheel data though). In performance catalog entries for ss and 02-05wrx are the same though both for lightweight flywheel and higher performance clutches.

Or should I go for ACT?

    Thanks!

You can use a WRX clutch if you get a WRX flywheel.

It depends on what you want to do. You could resurface your flywheel for about $30 and get an upgraded clutch for what you already have, or go to a WRX unit, and still have to get it resurfaced.

I was told my flywheel is not resurfaceable :)
Can I just put on some used+resurfaced WRX flywheel and leave my old oem clutch? Or a bad idea?

^ Yeah, bad idea. You want fresh surfaces and material on the disk to bed in together. You should be able to get an OEM WRX clutch kit for about $200. That usually included the disk, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing, and an alignment tool.

    Thanks.
You're talking Exedy, right? I thought OEM is more than that.

I'll actually seeing $249 right now, but there might be better prices with some digging for a WRX clutch kit. Exedy (Daikin) makes the OEM clutches for Subaru, so you are getting the same thing.

    I see one for 208 :)

Another question: which flywheels among the cheap ones are better than some used+resurfaced OEM WRX flywheel? How about one in this kit?

That is a nice price for a comprehensive kit with a flywheel. I like how the flywheel is a one-piece chromoly.
