Hopefully I am asking this correctly (more air through an engine = more horsepower, right). How much horsepower can the flow of stock 03 wrx heads support (before they are a significant restriction)? The real question I'm trying to answer is if it is worth PnP'd heads if I don't plan to go much (if at all) over 300whp. I tried a quick search or two, but this looks like one of those 8 hours on the internet searching things. Hoping someone here has this in number already in their head.
I'm not sure about your question but, port and polish heads will make it easier to get you to 300whp.
Which is kinda what I'm guessing is the case, and why I'm asking the question before shelling out dough for it if I won't really need it.
You have so many other restrictions to deal with before the heads themselves are going to be a problem. Namely your turbo. Are you going larger than a 35R?
No. Good. Cause I can certainly use that money better in other areas of the car. Cool, I think I'm actually starting to understand some of this stuff a little tiny bit.
piddster, are you saying that pnp heads wont provide any gains unless you have a turbo that flows more then a 35r? or am reading this wrong?
I doubt that's what he's saying, and I know there's some gains to be had. I mean, being able to shove the air into the engine a little quicker can't but help, right? But, for me, right now - probably not worth it unless its in my way or if I pull my heads and find physical damage to the castings (hope Jeff was easy on the spark plug tightening). Then I'd be more interested in picking up a set that's already been done or something.
another case where reading > me, I should only be allowed on the forums while Im on aderale or ritalin.
what turbo would you guys suggest for boosting a 2.5 sohc with sti pistons and rods? with decent spool time and moderate power?
