WOW..yeah justin..i called u today to ask u this very questions...it's funny that u answered anyways...lol So what the FU$$ didn't they go off in my car??????????????????????
I know it's not a really good pic...but good enough to see that I could of used the help of the air bag..YES gladly i was not serioulsy hurt...but that wat I think...My neck and shoulder are killing me espically when I get up in the morning..and I am still haveing headache...
The triggering mechanism for airbags is very sensitive and will only deploy them if and when it senses an impact that it has been programmed to trigger on. There are quite a few reasons that it probably didn't go off (speed, impact G's, impact angle). I'd be glad it didn't go off if I were you, airbags hurt when they hit you.
You should go SOON, and get some x-rays/MRI to see if you possibly have a hairline fracture in your neck. If you do, be glad that you caught them SOONER than later, by any and all means. I had to wear a halo neck brace for almost 4 months, not fun. Your headaches are most likely from whiplash, the muscles might be out of alignment, or maybe your vertebrate are out of alignment? Something is causing you to have continual pain, and its not getting better by itself. Hope you get better!
Even so, an impact like that should be enough plenty hard enough to set them off, unless it is programmed to not go off if it's too severe of an impact because then maybe it would cause further damage.
looking at the pics, you would think the airbag would go off.... correct me if im wrong but I think the rule of thumb is if the door touches you in an impact, the side airbag "should" go off.
some sarcasm in there with my comment...(glad Mo is ok though) as the impact looked a lot harder then 30mph.. cause I am telling you if that's how subaru gets its' safety rating then I may be selling mine.... I would think it would have went off... it should have gone off well before most the damage was caused.. mercury switches etc... fraction of a second for the bags to deploy.. so I agree...
Mo, I believe that the Side SRS bags are only deployed when the G sensor of the car sees a certain amount of force. If you were sliding, it may not have been enough to trigger the sensor for them.
