Yes, but it is a shiny turd. I might make it out to do some photo stuff. If I do, I will have my truck if we need to pull people out. Russ
Mark, is the VFW owner going to provde food/hot drinks for purchase? ...and are we meeting at the same JCPennys lot and doing a caravan up there? say leave there at 7:30?
maybe MNSOC can provide hot choco for free? no charge of course. no donations....I have a bunch left over from the last rally-x. would that be okay?
I'll ask. If it was an individual who brought some food and just shared it, that would be ok, but I'm not sure if an orginizaation does the same thing...
Please do. If it's alright, I would like to bring my grill, some hotdogs/brats, and buns. I know I have at least a package of dogs and brats in the fridge that I probably won't be eating anytime soon. How many are we expecting? 1-2 dozen?
:biggrin:This could be real interesting if the forecast is even close to accurate. Rain/Snow all day Sunday with a high temp of 33 in the early AM and dropping to 3 degrees by late night. I'm bringing my winter weather gear!
Well my gf has confirmed she is not working. We will very likely show up, both of us driving our own cars ('03 WRX and '08 Mazda 3). We may have to share a helmet though since hers is not Snell rated... Hopefully I will see you all there! One more quick question, do I have to pre-register? Or can I register upon arrival on Sunday morning?
Online pre-registration is required, pre-payment via PayPal or other method is required before your entry is complete. Entries will be capped at 24 participants. Walk-ins will not be accepted at this event! taken from the info you should have read first
Could some people come and just watch this event and not participate? I have never been to a rallycross yet and would like to see what its all about. My brothers want to come watch too.
Absolutely. Of course, it would be even better if you were willing to help out. Simple things like picking up cones, or working a stopwatch.
Yeah I can help with what ever. What time does it start, I'm in princeton right now so its not far from here, is it right off 169?
There's a link to the map in the first post of this thread. But yeah, the site is visible from 169, it's easy to find.
What preza said for the map. The schedule is at the same link from the first post, but essentially we're starting tech & registration at 8am, classroom at 9 and driving at 10. 10 is when we're going to need volunteers more (but we could sure use them earlier too). If anyone is willing to come out even earlier, I'll be setting up the course at 7am or slightly before. Dan's already said he's coming early to help, and anyone else who is willing to is welcome. Doesn't matter if you're driving or not, I could certainly use the help.
Ok, a few updates: Food - MNSOC can't sell food, but people an bring their own, and can share, so if anyone wants to bring extra, or a grill, they are welcome to do so. The hot chocolate mentioned by someone (Dave?) earlier would, I'm sure, go over well with everyone. Weather - The day will start out at/near freezing, and steadily drop as the day goes on. It's looking like it will be down to about 10F by the time I'm expecting to call it a day. It's also supposed to be rainy/sleety in the morning and snowy in the afternoon, which can be a very slippery mix for the drive home. Be prepared, and don't expect your drive home to be really quick. Total accumulation is predicted to be 2-4 inches, with most of that happening after noon. Site conditions - only 1-2" of snow there right now, and decently grippy (I had no problems driving anywhere on the field with my FWD car with no limited slip, but Winterforce tires). Please, please, please come ready to go. Try to pack up the stuff you need to bring, but have to take out of your car, in a way such that you can unload it quickly (big plastic totes are your friend). And once you get there, get ready, check in with registration, and get tech'd promptly, and then you can hang around and chat (or help others get ready). Any time wasted in the registration & tech periond will shorten the rest of the day and cut into seat time. If anyone will have kids with them, please take the time beforehand to download the SCCA minor waiver, print, fill it out and bring it with. http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/minorwaiver.pdf Notice that it requires signatures of both parents/guardians unless there is only one!
Small correction, we won't have cones on-site until 8am, so I don't really need any help until then. As people arrive and get registered and tech'd I'd appreciate the help. So don't worry about showing up early Dan.
Tangled and I packed my grill into his car tonight. We'll be picking up a few packs of dogs and buns in the morning. How many are we expecting? 30 including volunteers? Wanna make sure everyone gets a couple. [not MNSOC related of course]
thanks for everything guys and gals had a great day! ..but you all fail...I came home with 5 cupcakes! wtf was wrong with you people thats a big fail. Thanks to sheen for being my co driver I learned a lot form you!!.(btw you left my jerky sticks in my car). I cant wait till next year and use the skills I learned. Driving was not to bad on the way home besides all the snow pack making my wheels shake...got a car wash and everything seems a ok. I really hope we can do a rally school again I deff enjoyed it and it was much needed.
Thank you everyone who organized this and who stood outside and froze so we could drive. I learned some new techniques, now I want to find more seat time opportunities to practice them. Yeah, the drive home was very slippery at first, but got a lot better closer to 694. I'm still kinda in shock at how fast some of the other drivers on the road were going, on 1/4" of glare ice.
You improved a TON throughout the day! I was really impressed at how much more confident you were at the end of the day, and glad you unlearned the whole keep-cranking-the-wheel-even-though-I'm-understeering-thing... damnit... my meat sticks Sorry I couldn't be more help on the short course. I was having a helluva time trying to figure out how to drive the auto. Thanks everyone for putting on such a fun and informational event! Thanks to Andrew and Joel for pit-crewing too. Andrew, I have your torque wrench case in my garage. I'l trade you for the leftover extra-s.
thanks what a day makes..I felt so much better inside and out! I owe everything to you oh and I put your meat sticks in my fridge.
Great event. Pin turn was crazy hard today, very humbling. Thanks to everyone that volunteered today, I learned a lot and had a good time. Roads on the way home sucked. Hope everyone got home alright. I had Mark Utech take me for a spin in my car and all I can say is, WOW can he drive. I think I learned more in those couple minutes riding with him than I have all season. Thanks again Mark.
