Looks like we may get snow a little earlier than last year , now who is ready for some snow? Got to get my winter tires on soon, oh and the snow brush Can't wait
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=55016&wuSelect=WEATHER Looks like 40's and rain for the next week at least.
I like walking out to my car without being chilly, but I want the snow, but not the way people drive in it
Nope, even though I have my snow tires waiting in storage. I would like to wait like last year until close to Christmas for some snow.
It wont stick in a weeks time. It's been near 70's a few times this week. We are going to need a couple weeks below freezing before snow tires are necessary. The ground temps are still very warm.
You really shouldn't run those until the temperature outside is below 45 degrees on a regular basis. They actually perform terribly above that temperature.
i know , car came with it though and im not about to buy a new set of wheels and tires. I have been going easy on them. michelin xice2
My star specs are garbage in ~40* weather. I was scared to take any corners at any speed above granny last week. I am going to put my snows on this weekend so I dont fall off the clover leafs.
I was thinking of swapping mine over this weekend since it looks like we'll be dropping into the 40's pretty consistently.
I've had mine on since mid Sept after doing some shenanigan drifting around at DCTC trying to show the new Scion FR-S what's up and how drifting is done in the X. Then we went to Mid-Ohio w/them and the rest is history! Bring on the snow as the SNOW button is awaiting for you!
Last winter was mild which was great and all but the snowfall we got was disapointing. So we didn't really need our winter tires put on for the majority of the winter. I'm gonna pray for some snow this year and also pray that I get to do ****ties at the Sears parking lot without getting pulled over.
One of the automotive ignorant chicks at work left her snows on all summer (BMW 5 series that she bought used). I told her she would be sorry, but the prickmobile nor its tires are a smoldering pile of wreckage yet...much to my dismay.
everyone in Chicago runs them during the summer haha it kind of looks really stupid if I say so myself
Looks like high's in the 40's and low's in the 20's for the foreseeable future. I might have to put the winter tires on soon...
Contrary to popular belief, running snow tires year round doesn't result in instant destruction to the tires, dogs and cats lying down together or flaming death. As long as you're not doing doughnuts in a parking lot every morning, they'll hold up ok. Yes, they'll wear a little bit faster than your regular tires but they won't be leaving black streaks of rubber everywhere you go. Are they ideal? No. Will it work? Yes.
^ back in my poor college days, the wife ran winters on her 215k Camry year round. We knew we couldn't afford 2 sets of tires and I knew that all-seasons suck in the winter. I wanted to give her the best advantage in the snow. We sold the car about 3 years after that and the tires still had a season or two in them. I 100% agree with you. People really think that the winter tires will just melt, LOL. Also, I know good drivers that track with winter tires.
All we get is rain and hail so far in the Southeast...got my WS70s sitting on a set of steelys sitting in the garage waiting for the first big snow!
My list: 1. Change over to winter tires 2. Check tire pressures, look for nail, leaks, valves etc 3. Change/check fluids, windshield, coolant, power steering, oil etc 4. Insert cardboard to the front of the radiator to retain heat on smaller engines 5. Check torque on lug nuts 6. Get winter car kit, blanets, gloves, hats, candy, pocket warmers, scrapers, extra pair of shoes, tissue box, extra windshield fluid etc 7. Install clevis on car, flares and tow strap 8. Start revisiting alternate routes to and from work 9. Replace street/track pads w/factory pads 10. Clean out car I prefer to do preventative work and minimize the hassle of having to do things in the cold despite having a heated garage because you could save yourself time, money and pain in advance.
After being out of Minnesota for the last 3 years I am not looking forward to the cold temps again. Snow I had, but not cold. Too bad Subaru wants $700 for remote start.
I just have a funny feeling I won't have to wait much longer before I can get to do some donuts this winters hehehe
