the only real annoyance with summer tires is when u cant get up ur driveway or out of a snowed in parking spot, im not even sure if this applies to AWD, but my freinds g35 struggles hard
You know how full of **** this is given your keen interest in appropriate tires for appropriate applications. Summer tires are not safe on snow. Berating people for running appropriate gear is asinine. Wet tarmac, fine. Snow and ice? No. You're going on like you think none of us have ever actually attempted to drive ultra conservatively on snow and ice with summer tires. You know better.
My snow tires are back on. I didn't think it was worth the risk if there is actual snow accumulation on the roads.
My summer tires are still on as I have a nail in one of the winter tires, I'll be taking my brothers car for the next couple of weeks it looks like. I did drive it in the rain/sleet yesterday, did pretty good, but I also drove slowly and carefully. Hope to not do it again
Thats why I have discount tire. They mound and dismount for free. Although, I'm still on winters and will be until late April or early May.
Back on my winters, lol. LGT 5 spoke summers are sold, '04 STi BBSs incoming. Now I need to decide on rubber...
I had to laugh at this on my way this morning. it's hard to tell from the picture, but the guy is in the ditch and he has his car running and he is brushing snow off of it casually as if he is just getting up and on his way to work. Sorry I may not have had enough coffee, but I was amused.
The probe probed the snow well this morning. The nice car is cozy in the heated garage. In short: f*ck snow tires. Get a snow car. Then you don't have to cry or worry or think about switching and swapping.
I don't recall the last time I drove fully dedicated summer tires in the winter snow, but I was suprised how well they did. NT01's did great on this morning drive to work. You introduce a little weight transfer and she'll hook up just fine. There wasn't as much traffic as I'd expected and the thunder made the drive even more interesting. I saw half a dozen cars in the ditch and even in these conditions ppl are still driving with their elbows resting on the window and driving parallel to other cars like an idiot. Even thought I had call into work informing them I'd be 30 mins late I managed to get to work on time and did my two donut's for good luck, cleaned my wheels and then walked into the office. I'm loving it.!
It took me over 2 hours to get to the VERY east side of New Brighton this morning cruising at a steady 8 mph the whole way. 694W has a sheet of ice on it.
The anticipation is killing me. You have all been getting hammered by this storm and apparently Wisco is next. I can see little flurries starting as we speak. The northern states are known for their long winters but this is getting pretty old.
