alright question i hav a 96 brighton coupe and origanally has drums in the rear... i hav the rotors and wrx calipers brake lines etc. but is there some type of conversion bracket or piece i can buy? because judging by the way the hub is set up there is no way they'd bolt on with out somthin else.... anyone done it before or any input? thanx
You really need to change the rear knuckles to those from a disc brake subaru. The backing plate is different between drum and disc, that's what the caliper mounts to. You'll also need the ebrake parts for each side. It's possible to switch the backing plate/ebrake without changing the knuckle, but you have to pull the hub to do it and that means putting in new bearings seals, etc... You can see the rear knuckles with the ebrake still attached (the rotors are off and hubs are pulled out), on the left side of this photo. I'm in the (slow) process of converting my rear drum to disc.
dang... i was hopin it would be easier... my drums and shoes are good now i inspected them but i got the calipers and stuff with the car so i thought it would hav been more simple... well looks like this is movin way back on my to do list...
