The rear driver's side door on my wife's 99 impreza wagon won't open. The door was hit several years ago and repaired at an autobody shop. I'm assuming that it's been broken ever since then and we just never noticed, but now my wife is riding in the back seat with the baby, so this is a major problem. It was working from the outside just fine. I think the repair shop ****ed something up and just futzed with it until it at least worked from the outside. I quickly looked at it today and found a rod disconnected on the interior handle. Once I reconnected that rod it won't open from the inside or the outside. The child lock is not locked, flipping the child lock back and forth makes no difference. The electric locks still work. If I unscrew the entire handle from the inside, hit unlock on the electric locks and kinda pull on both of the rods going to the interior handle i can somehow get it to unlatch. So I can at least get the door open to work on it. I'm gonna try to find time to tear apart the whole door and look at it, but if anyone has any tips or ideas it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Got it fixed. Once I got it all apart I was able to see where things needed to be clipped in on the interior handle. It was kinda tricky to get them back in place without breaking any plastic bits, but it works now. I don't know why the body shop had to disassemble that part...
