    Here's the 05 STi Specs vs the 07 STi specs.

    What it means is that the 07 STi trans will directly bolt up with no difference in rear end change on a 2002-2005 WRX. The 04-06 STi trans, has a different reduction ratio, which means you would need a 3.90 rear end to run it. The 07 STi runs a 3.54 rear end ratio.

    I had it backwards. the older WRX trannies have the 1.1 transfer gear, and the STi ones do not. good to know.


    so this, theoretically, would mean that the '07 STi has a different torque split by design (don't ask me why....seems to me any mechanical advantage gained from the transfer gear is lost on the steeper rear axle gears).

    this would also mean, that the '07 STi trans would cooperate just fine with any other WRX rear diff.

    You mean any other MY 02-05 5MT WRX rear diff. :)

    Not any other, it would have to be a manual trans rear diff.

    shift fork??? or is that CLUTCH fork?? so no shift linkage.....
    so the '04 trannies are MORE in price??

    Why are the '07's so cheap? Are they trying to move product or something?

    This is great news for anyone with a WRX looking to upgrade.

    I'm sure he could get enough to cover the 6spd
