I've been working on the car today and would like to take the ebrake assembly (and all the garbage that it's attached to) off the knuckle but even after scoping out the car extensively and looking at the parts manual I can't figure out how.

    1. Is there anything I should be concerned about when removing the two hoses/wires that run into the back side of the knuckle? I know that one is the e-brake cable but what is the other one? ABS? Is there any sort of tension on the e-brake cable?

    2. Do I need to remove the ABS tone ring to get at any bolts behind it? It's hard to get enough torque on that thing with a hex wrench while the hub is spinning freely (the axle is out).

I'd like to take the whole knuckle assembly off the car and bring it in to have the big trailing arm bushing pressed in. Even if I want to attempt to do it here at home I'm going to need the dust shield and e-brake off the car.

    Thanks.

    1. no, they are just the ebrake cables...both of them. the little sensor is the abs sensor.

the ebrake drum assembly is pretty easy to take apart..if you cant get it, bring it over and i can show you.

There is one bolt on the back of the knuckle. Are the others underneath the tone ring?

You going to have to destroy the dust shield to get it off over the hub...

Why? I've got the axles removed and the whole thing disconnected from everything except the strut.

edit: Oh, I see. The whole center assembly of the hub is pressed together. Isn't it.

After reading up on legacycentral it looks like these things don't really easily come apart. I guess I'll have to unhook the sensors and bring the whole assembly in to Courtney Truck Service.

I called 'Proven Force' but the one in BP (I didn't try the others) wouldn't touch the idea of pressing in bushings. Hopefully CTS can do what I need to get done.

The brake dust shield and ebrake assembly. I guess to get the dust shield off I have to disassemble the whole ebrake system.

edit: After further review I've discovered that the dust shield is pretty much part of the moose knuckle. Argh!
