After looking around and reading other forum threads, I am interested in the MNSubaru community's thoughts on an apparently controversial "mod"; To drop-in aftermarket air filters or to Paper oem replacements?

I am looking at both K&N and Perrin right now, but looking for a little more opinion before pulling the trigger. I have used K&Ns on previous vehicles and had zero issue with them. What I am finding is the concern about oil from the filter moving into areas that it shouldn't be.

If this is a duplicate thread, I apologize. Thanks in advance.

Just get a k&n drop in to replace the air filter. You don't need a full air intake kit.

I used an AEM dry flow filter, so no oil to mess up the sensor

I would just stay with oem paper. K & N lets a lot of crap through. There was a thread here somewhere that showed the filtering capabilities of oil filters and air filters, lets just say that the k&n was the worst at filtering. Great air flow though!

I am not looking to do a CAI or SRI, just a drop in. Sorry for the confusion. I also believe that going to a SRI or CAI may void the warranty (not 100% on that though).
I am very curious about this one. The size of it though is vastly different from OEM or even K & N. Glad to hear good things about it.
I thought that there may have been a thread about this already, but I couldn't find it earlier.

I did end up ordering the K&N filter. For the price it's worth a run. I'm tempted to order an AEM also, and switch after a month or so to see if there is any noticeable difference. Thanks for the input!

I believe that the thread was originally about oil filters? Not 100% though. I just remember a link posted about it in said thread.
