Or maybe if we didn't drive heavily modified, turbocharged.....wait nm....;)

And Biofuel is not the solution, A)It takes away food from hungry people, B) It increases deforestation to use land for the growing of crops C) Carbon emissions are still huge from Biofuels.

Seriously, renewable energy is the solution. If 30% of the wind energy on planet earth was harnessed, we could power the entire planet. If all our power was derived from clean renewable resources, we could all then drive electric cars, because plugging them in wouldn't plug you into a coal power plant. This is most likely the future...

Edit: I don't mean wind energy, but locally produced renewable energy derived from whatever works best at that location. We need to get off the grid, there is a 50% efficiency in energy transfer when we send electricity.through the power lines.

True, somewhat. The beauty of turbos is that you can get decent mileage when cruising then drop the hammer and scoot. You can't have 400hp and 25mpg with a V8, usually.

Chinese that are switching from rice to eating much more meat are another major reason food prices are rising!

Actually true! We sell rice here at the gas station and it used to be $25.95 but now it's $35.95 for 50lb bags. Except one brand named Kuko is still $25.95?

^^^ I thoroughly agree with this. But, this will most likely not happen till we are old and gray, then maybe our grand-children would have a energy efficient place to live in. Tesla Motors.

The Corvette does it, the new Pontiac G8 comes close (361 hp, 24 MPG). FWIW, the turbo Subarus are getting the same results but with less hp. The 'vette is a perfect example of keeping the weight down and using very tall gearing for highway cruise speeds in order to get decent mileage. Subaru is making good examples of very safe cars that don't have obscene curb weights. If the company would also change the gear ratios for 4th and 5th (and 6th for those of you with 6-speeds), then the highway numbers could improve 10% overnight. There's no good reason for my XT to be turning 3000 RPM at 70 MPH when it would tick along just fine at 2400 RPM.
