My Saabaru has developed a clunk on the right side that isn't there all the time. It sounds like a metal on metal hammering, and happens over some very bad pavement or when making left turns, both at steady speeds and with the suspension unloaded. I've checked and didn't find anything obvious missing or loose, and the struts aren't blown or leaking.

I don't really have access to a garage since moving here, and don't want to throw money at the car guessing at the problem. Which shop would anybody recommend, or are there employees who work after hours?

For a slightly more serious answer, you may want to try Jeff the Alignment Guy to see if he can help you track it down.

Mileage? It could very well be endlinks, they tend to make "Clunking" noises when they fail. Also check for a broken spring, bad bushings on the trailing arms/lateral links, or loose/failed tophat.

My endlinks caused exactly what you describe. Was really annoying but kartboy fixed it right up.

Check out the suggestions from Curry and Nhibbs. I've had both endlinks and a loose tophat cause your symptoms.
If you really don't want to mess with it yourself, contact NFPerformance on MNSubaru. They will help you out and not break the bank.

I'll look into the end-links. The car is an 05 with 67k miles (I don't have to drive much for work), but I think I might end up asking Nuke and Fuji to look at it. Thanks!
