I have Perrin RSB - it's ok i guess, it does the job. I have the Whiteline FSB and rear endlinks. all together it's pretty stiff. I jacked up by the front drivers side were i'm having trouble with the strut and the whole drivers side lifted off the ground! I'm concidering either going cheap and getting a used strut, or KYB's, Koni's or Tokico's. I'm leaning toward Tokico's. Sogonerg has them too. May sell my eibachs and get crucial springs then too...hmmmph.....
Nabil Pretty good chance your rattling and your clunking are the flange at the axelback hitting the side of the differential. I still have that set of XL Kartboy hangers is you want to try that. You can try before you buy! Let me know. Steve
I've been saying that! How about sunday afternoon/evening? Dairy Queen? There's no more West Wing so Steve can't use that excuse anymore
You bastards have me figured out. I'm afraid Sunday doesn't work. I have a 5-day class for work in Winona that starts Sunday afternoon. Booooo! I'm staying down in Winona for the sake of convenience. Nabil If you want I could send the XL hangers with the boss to work! Steve
I guess no meeting on sunday then. :hsugh: So the long hangers are supposed to fix this problem? I was trying to find something to create kind of a cushioning between the exhaust and the differential. So, would that work? In any case, send the hangers my way and I can try em out.. also, just found out that I am on call on 4th so no Autocross for me.. boo hoo :emo:
I'll meet sometime with anyone who wants too. I have company coming this weekend though - Jake who you've met, and Chad who's into cars too. We could go to a park and grill out?
I am down for grilling! I can provide utensils, burgers, and spicy chicken breasts. I do NOT have a portable grill though, also my GF is here this weekend so hopefully you won't mind her joining us.
My girlfriend has a charcoal grill we can move in her car. I have a small charcoal grill (tailgate style). Some parks have permanent grills, i just don't know which ones. The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend. Maybe a little cool, but not rainy/cold like last weekend. I'm going to be grilling whether or not any of you can make it! I have company and I like to grill out.
Sounds like a plan to me! Sunday afternoon sounds good? Which park are you talking about? Silver lake area is the only place i am familiar with, it really does not matter to me where we go.
Silver Lake could work (north side by 14th st NE?), Essex park (55th NW) could work. Any other ideas? I can do Saturday afternoon as well. Anybody else?
Soooooooo..no one? wow, man we are not setting a good example for future enthusiasts!!! I don't know where essex is but i'll choose that over silver lake as i am tired of geese... and silver parks' abundance in dog poop.
Guys....I wish I could make it! Especially now that I know that Nabil has a fear of doog poop. I'll start saving some up for him. Steve
Where are my damn hangers???!!?? heh.. Put in an order for my wheels/tires. Will be here next week.. will probably get them mounted at Discount Tire Direct. Any suggestions?
Cool! What'd you go with? I bought tires from Discount tire in town. They did a good job. Valvestems look nice. Haven't lost pressure in any tire since (almost a year ago). Free tire rotations for life. I think it was $10-15/tire mounted balenced with stems, I could check my recipt.

235s on a 7.5"rim??? i thought i was pushing 235s on an 8" rim. if you can make it work mor power to you. Ordered my cat-back a month ago and it's still on backorder - hopefully i'll get it in the next two weeks. Matt's installing my UP/DP next week friday. I feel i should say something about Steve so he'll make some jackass comment...hmmm
Discount tire will more than likely be closing within the year, so i wouldn't plan on that free rotations for life
Yeah, Shane (shane86 here) suggested that and said that it should fit. what catback did you order again? That is a long time for the wait, i am usually impatient and want the item shipped the next day. Well.. Steve was going to send me some hangars. My catback is making this horrible sound after hitting the differential at every gear change. I hope the long hangers will work. Maybe he is in the process of collecting dog feces... What?? that sucks! where else can i go then?? Firestone? Is this statewide?
Nabil I apologize....I completely spaced it off before I went off to training. We have had a change in travel plans due to a family medical issue. We are now headed down to Iowa but will be back Saturday. Let me know where you live and I will get the hangers to you....or we could all try to get together on Sunday or Monday. Steve
Haha! i was just pulling your leg. I can wait till next week. This weekend i will be out of town as usual.
UPDATES GUYS! What's going on guys? Nobody's been posting here for a while. Guess I'll start. Matt installed my Up pipe and Down pipe last friday. Still no cat-back (it's on backorder). Got ~31MPG on tuesday on my trip back from my parents - so that was cool! More plans later this summer if I can get tuned. (hmmm what does that mean!??) Also, I'm not totally convinced that i have a blown strut. May be, maybe not. ANYBODY ELSE???
I ordered some rally mudflaps, but they're from an outfit in Britain so they're taking a long time to show up... And, still waiting on my refund from the place that sent me the wrong floormats, before I start hunting down a supplier that has the CORRECT ones.
I haven't done squat other than remove the tint from the wagon. I only got a warning last weekend but the next one could be killer. I cannot have another moving violation on my record (one speeding from last year already) because of work....I drive company vehicals. Last Friday before the auto-x I rotated my tires and discovered that one of my Helix front end links is dead, dead, dead. It had been making a horrible racket. The thing is rattling around like crazy. I need to put the factory ones back on but it's a pain in the butt because the helix ones are slightly narrower that stock and it caused the mount tabs to compress in. I need to take it apart and spread the tabs back but I just haven't had the time to screw with it. No immediate plans in the future...I bought a used Jeep Wrangler Rubicon three weeks ago which has tied up any spending on fun stuff for a while. Let's get together next Sunday afternoon (June 18th)! Steve
Pat Yeah....but it will depend a little on when my parents leave. They come up tonite and will most likely leave early afternoon on Sunday. Let's set something up for Sunday if that works for people! Steve
Might have to go to my gf's nephew's bday party in Wisc. - not sure yet, nor do I know what time we'd be back. Good news - MADDAD cat-back came today! Hopefully I'll find some time to put it on. pat
OK, here's what I have been up to: I just got back in town after a 10 day trip. I left my car at Clements because the bumper had been gouged in the parking lot at the airport this winter. They also "buffed out" some scratches and did an exterior "detail". The bumper looks great, the car overall looks good, but there are a ton of swirls now. What should I do. They offered to try to do better, but I am not sure I want them to touch it again. Any suggestions? On the good side, I got protuned by Jorge: This one is on 92 octane This one is on 100 octane The baseline numbers are with Jorge's base map for stage 2 cars and should be slightly better than off the shelf Cobb stage 2 maps. I am happy with the gains, this dyno reads low. I am especially happy with the flexibility of the engine now, I have torque pretty much everywhere. Sitting in my garage right now are Pagid blue brake pads, super blue race brake fluid, Racecomp front camber plates, group N rear tops, and KW variant 2 coilovers. I am too busy this weekend, but next weekend Matt will help me install all of that. I have ordered the Whiteline anti-lift kit, but it has not yet arrived. Getting excited, have not been to the track yet this year. We need a meet!
Cat-back is on! Thanks Nabil and Steve for your words of encouragement. Though I might have a leak in the downpipe... Lynn asked if I wanted it to be that loud :? It's definately not that loud, might be quiter than the Greddy Evo. Just perspective I guess. I'm no "ricer" at least. Meeting????
Bueller....Bueller....anyone still alive out there in Rochester WRX land? Since I bought the used Jeep the WRX hasn't hardly been out of the garage. Most of that is because one of my front end-links is toast and I'm embarrased to drive it because it makes so much racket. I haven't had the time to screw with it so I just drive the Jeep. One of you needs to volunteer to come over and help me put my original endlinks back on or make a suggestion as to a brand.....other than Helix....of quiet, reliable front endlinks. On an unrelated note....I have been seeing a ton of wrx's around that I haven't seen before. I saw a blue '04+ sedan as I was leaving town this morning with a nice sounding (but deceptively factory appearing) twin-tip exhaust. Talk to me.... Steve
Im in town for the summer. I have an 05 WRB with Gold Torques. Im new to the hole Subaru family so i donno how much help i can be. But Ill i do is work and sit at my place, so i would be up for anything. Matt
Steve, Whiteline makes great endlinks. I have Whitelne rear endlinks and stock front endlinks with my whiteline fsb and they're working fine. I too have noticed a lot of WRX's. Unfortunately most of what I've seen have been driven by middle aged women, one even had a "baby on board" sign in the back!
Welcome Matt Steve, I have Cobb endlinks. I had Hotchkis and they were terrible. Cobb's have been great. We are way overdue for a meet...
Bushings, Gold annodized aluminum with yellow bushings. big thick and sturdy. no noises! harder than stock. I don't know what Brad has against them unless he's talking about pillowblock bearing ones. Brad speaks the truth about being overdue for a meet, however!
Whoops! My bad - I just typed what I was reading except what I meant. I have never tried Whiteline - mine were HOTCHKIS and they were horrible - totally different design. I have heard good things about Whitelines and if Pat approves, then they must be good. I will edit my previous post to prevent further confusion.
Sup guys I am new to the suby world I just bought my first suby. A friend told me about your site. My friend is living in Rochester for the summer. He drives a 05 wrx with gold rotas. I was hopping maybe you guys would wanna plan a meet in Rochester so I could meet some of you guys and see all those sexy subys. Let me know what you think and maybe we can start looking at some dates.
Sounds like a great idea. Too bad these lazy suckers are either never around or too busy to do anything. I guess I'm guilty of that too... Any dates that work out for anyone? Just about every Sunday you can find me at Hollywood video (north) around 8pm trying to find something to rent... EDIT: Welcome AWD PWNZ! I went to UWL and my GF is originally from Viroqua.
OK this it getting nuts. Let's stop talking about how lame we are for not meeting in so long and start figuring out when we can actually have a meet. It sounds like there are some new folks to meet (welcome to AND_PWNZ). I will start the bidding with this Sunday afternoon. Any takers?
