Brad Me too! I would be interesed in going if we could get a good group of Rochester guys to go. I did look at the website yesterday and they had zero people registered....not a great sign. Said they needed a min of 30 I think to make the event happen. Steve
They just opened the registration and there is always a last minute rush. They also always claim they need 30, but actually have run the event before with fewer. So, I count at least 3 Rochester Subies to potentially attend and as of tonight there are already 13 registered. I think it is unlikely it will cancel. In terms of time on track for a HPDE type event, this is about the best I have heard of yet. Who is in? Brad
Aight I know I talked about this earlyer but just seeing if anyone would be down to have a lil meet up on sunday AUG 13th? I work till three and live about a hour away so we could start at like 5 or 6 ? Let me know if anyone would be interested.
I'll be at the fair tonight. My girlfriend has a dog show in LaCrosse (LaCrosse Center) this weekend - i might get dragged to that on sat or sun - i'll let you know. Next weekend I'll be in Milwaukee. So I'm a no-go on the get together. Still thinking about FTL though...
I have already registered. They must be running behind on updating the list of people that have signed up. Anyway, I am going. I hope to head down around 4 or 5 PM on Friday. It makes the drive go faster if we caravan. Who else is in? Brad
Guys...I not going.....too much other crap going on....but I think Bicycle Bob might be contemplating it. I'll stop in his place on the way home and let him know to call Brad. Steve
I think I'm 80% going. I don't know what's holding me back. First time jitters i suppose. afraid I'll incapacitate my car in some way. What do I need? helmet, brake fluid, basic tools???
Pat You can borrow my helmet if you want....It's a very nice Bell M4 Pro....Brad can probably chime in as far as the other stuff. Go....you'll have a blast! Steve
That'd be cool. My friend Jason has a helmet too that I could borrow should you change your mind about going...
so are any of you guys going to be around sunday afternoon and willing to meet up with a few people. I will be in town visiting a friend and it would be cool to meet some of you. Also does anyone have any info on where Big bad voodoo daddy is playing and how much and what time? Thanks
AWD PWNZ I am out of town this weekend. Pat No need for jitters. This is very low key. No one will be critical in anyway as long as you remain safe. The entire event is geared toward safety first, speed second. All you need is a helmet, cotton clothes, and that is it. If you have time to put in fresh brake fluid and change your oil, that would be a plus. Go for it. Brad
I can't make it, but: Who: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (+ openers Two O'Clock Jump) Where: Mayo/Riverside Park (Rochester), right behind the Mayo Civic Center-- about 6th Ave SE, between Center St and 4th St SE. How Much: $FREE! When: Sunday Aug 13th, 7pm. More info: http://riversideconcerts.com/ http://www.bbvd.com/ For the really popular bands, you will NOT be able to park anywhere close. One suggestion for a place to meet and walk-in together would be the church lot at 3rd St and 11th Ave SE (it was 100% empty for the huge .38 Special concert, but all the street-parking was packed up to that distance). I didn't see any "Lutheran parking ONLY, others towed" signs, but it IS private property so I'm not liable for whatever happens; it's just a suggestion.
Signed up!! can borrow helmet from either Steve or a friend. Need an oil change soon anyway, put in ATF Super Blue (DOT 4+) brake fluid in April -still have some left. I'll have to check and see if I have any cotton clothes <--- excited!!
Pat... You'll have to borrow your friend's helmet cuz Bicycle Bob and I are joining the convoy to MAM. I just registered! I called and let Brad know and would have called you but I don't have your cell # anymore. Brad and I talked about shooting for leaving 4:00ish on Friday. We should all get together sometime before then and coordinate and $hit! Steve
YES...it is! I just decided on the way home tonight that it sounded like a good time. My biggest hang up was the 5 hour drive there and back. I'm excited too. I want to go to the NASA event at Road America in October and this is a good warm-up! Steve
When in October? The drive goes pretty quickly. On the way down, thinking about all the fun you are going to have, on the way back, thinking about all the fun you had. I have a meeting from 3-4 on the 25th. I will try to move it earlier, but I have already rescheduled it twice and it is kind of important. If I can't move it earlier, I may have to push our departure back to about 4:30. Brad
Brad October 21/22 https://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/show/?event_id=358 As much fun as I think I am going to have at MAM, I may try to find something else before then. We'll work around your meeting.....no big deal. I'm just not much of a late night driver....my typical day starts pretty early. Steve
Well I will be in ROch tommrow around 5 so we might hang out for a bit then go to that show at 7. If anyone is down ill see you where do you guys usually meet up at?
I will do my best to get out as early as possible. I am planning on bringing some tools, a jack, jack stands, etc. We should all discuss stuff ahead of time so we are not all bringing the exact same stuff. Anyone have a little compressor to inflate tires? Unfortunately, I will be out of town during that NASA event. I still have never made it to RA, hopefully next year.
Hey guys- I'm not a Subie owner but i plan on getting one sooner or later. To be more specific, a Saab 9-2x Aero, heh. But i'm surprised there's quite a few of you guys here in Rochester but i've never seen you guys before. I have a '04 SE-R Spec V. Feel free to wave if you spot me:
Brad I agree on the "stuff". Why duplicate efforts. I have a little cigarette-lighter compressor that I take to Auto-x as a back-up. I have a 5 gallon air tank and so does Bob. I have a big tote that I take the following to Auto-x in: Torque Wrench Blue Masking Tape Window Cleaner and Paper Towels Helmet Suntan Lotion Hat Sunglasses Driving Shoes (Indoor Soccer Shoes) etc. Bob has a similar tote and he has a nice aluminum Craftsman jack he brings if he is changing wheels/tires. We usually take a cooler with beverages and snacks as well. We should try to have a 20 minute meet somewhere, sometime before then to coordinate. Steve
Your list looks a lot like my check list: Chalk Windshield cover Windshield cleaner Accessport Chair Tools, torque wrench, jack, stands, chocks, spanner wrench, micrometer, gloves Helmet Harness Oil and other fluids Masking tape Water Air compressor Cameras Sun block and hat I also have a nice craftsman jack. It might be nice to have two of those just in case. We should just get together next weekend for a few minutes to coordinate. Brad
TofuShop, Welcome, I have seen that car around - nice. Good luck with the Saabaru. If you change your mind and want a Subaru, there is a nice used WRB WRX sedan at Clements right now. AWD_PWNZ sorry, I am in Chicago now, hopefully others are around.
aight well it looked like everyone backed out. That is ok the weather is kind of lame anyway. We should get somthing going though in the next few weeks before summer is done and gone.
Sorry AWD_PWNZ....us Rochester guys have commitment issues..... Went for a long hike with the Wife and dog down in Forestville State Park. Got back at 2:30, showered, ate lunch and then took a 2+hr nap.....just woke up. I'm contemplating a Sunday night......burn things in my driveway fire-pit....kinda get-together sometime in September. Steve
Yeah....I was doing my list from memory while I was waiting for my coffee....it definately was NOT complete....and neither am I until I've had my coffee. Steve
Um, am I going to have to bring anything?! You guys probably have everything covered since all three of you routinely take part in some sort of racing. Steve - you could possibly bring some common suby sized bolts/nuts from your collection. Every once in a while my car likes to shake something loose - roll bar/endlinks, Up-pipe, strut - what's next? TufuShop- Welcome, I'll keep an eye out for you. AWD_PWNZ - I was out of town also this weekend. just keep plugging for something and eventually some of us can make it work out. - that's how it goes around here i guess.
Pat, just secure a helmet and retorque everything before we leave. We should set up a meet next weekend to go over plans for the HPDE and just to get together.
Guys Bob pointed out to me last night that there is a tech form on the website that needs to be filled out prior to arriving at the event. Just an FYI. Steve
What, you mean I won't be the only Aero in the area anymore? Not fair, I like owning a car that no one else in town does (at least I think, I might have seen another Aero a few months ago). Getting a used one, or picking up new? Hell, I should just sell you mine, since I'm moving to Australia next summer.
Next free concert (Rochester, behind Mayo Civic Center), Sunday August 20th, 7pm Eddie Money http://www.eddiemoney.com http://www.riversideconcerts.com Did anyone get together for last weekend's Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show? How'd it go? Where'd you meet up? Same location for this?
Does anyone want to get together and change oil / bleed brakes later on sunday afternoon? I would like to have someone a little more mechanically inclined than Lynn to help me with the brakes.
Pat Sorry...I have an Auto-x on Sunday and won't be back until about 6:00 and then Tami and I are bolting down to the Down by the Riverside concert. Steve
MAM guys.... Let's name a time and a place to meet on Friday!!! Did everyone make hotel / motel arrangements? Bob and I are sharing a room Settle Inn as recommended on www.findtheline.com. Brad....I just remembered I was supposed to call you this weekend. Sorry...it was crazy. I'm taking off work at 3:00. I will be ready to go by 4:00. I am not a night driving person so I would really like to get going as early as possible. Steve
Brad and I are sharing a room also. - more money for gas Brad says Would BestBuy be a good place to meet? I don't know where Brad lives that would be a more central location, but then we have a 5 hour drive ahead of us.
