hahah... cant wait to get the tour! My brother has a new D40, but the bad thing is we wont have it until he meets us in lacrosse.

 

I sent payment in tonight, we are in. My two girls, my wife, and I will meet you guys at HyVee at 9AM on Sat, should be fun. I have a pretty bad digital video cam that I can bring but if someone has a good one I will leave mine at home. I do have a digital rebel that I plan to bring along. Can we get a preview of our route?

New Accessport.....THANKS FOR THE GREAT DEAL PAT! Seriously....it's like a new car! Can't wait until the ECU fully learns. The car runs so smooth....idles so smooth. Yesterday there were several times on Hwy 60 when I was doing 60mph in 3rd and it was just purring along....before it would have been screaming at me...."shift you *******!". Amazing upgrade! Just wish I had done it a long time ago.

Now I just need to do another tranny fluid swap to see if it fixes my 4th gear little-bit-o grindage.....and I'm a super-duper happy camper!

May I suggest RedLine Lightweight Shockproof tranny fluid? Or Uncle Scotty's mixture (search on nasioc). When I did it, it was like a new transmission. This is after 25k miles on the old stuff. Which means maybe I should change mine soon too since I'm at 50k now.

I'm almost convinced I want to buy new tires too... That might have to wait until next summer - maybe...

Whistle Binkies next time? Maybe a drive down towards Lansboro?

 

I'm going to try the uncle scotties cocktail. I did a bunch of reading up on the issue yesterday and this morning.

Any clue where I can get all the components? I tried autozone last night and they only had the syncromesh.

Also.....do you have the b/a torx bit that the drain plug supposedly takes?

 

I got my Redline Lightweight Shockproof from summit.com. They may also have everything else in the cocktail. - best price I found on the internet. there's also a local mnsubaru vendor that sells it. Ask Russ (WRX1).

I did not need a torx bit for mine, yours may be different. Get under there and check. On thing you could do is "rent" a torx bit from autozone and order a new plug from Clements that isn't torx - so its easier next time.

 

I just did my trans with mobil 1 full synthetic. it shifts smooth and easy now.

And I think I'm gonna use that body shop # too Steve, get my dents pulled some time this summer.

And last but not least I had an awesome time Saturday, thanks all for showing up and having fun with me!

It kinda torques me off....I didn't have any shifting issues ever until I had the fluid changed the first time....then it shifted hard from 2 to 1. I had it changed about a month ago and now it grinds a little from 3 to 4 only. If I am careful I can finesse it into 4 without grinding.

I'm thinking I'm going to try oem fluid from Clements first and then the cocktail if that doesn't work.

nobody in town carries the redline in stock that i could find.
only place that i found that can get it is where i work (advance auto)
only thing is we don't deal with it directly so i got to go through a second source so its gonna be more
like $16.00 a qrt. compared to summits 9.75

the castrol hypo is on shelf at O'riellys for like 3.69

syncro mesh is like 5.98 but we're outta stock, should have more on saturday

i'm gonna order a qt of the redline stuff for my car in the next couple of days
so if you or anyone else wants let me know and i'll bring another 2 or 3

if you need anything else stop in and ask for jason if you see my 2.5 out front

I ended up ordering all three off of Amazon. I wasn't in a major rush. I'm actually going to swap to a 75w90 full synthetic for a couple of weeks and then throw the cocktail in.

He really did a fantastic job at getting the two big honkin dents out of my drivers side fender. I'm going to have him do some of the other little stuff later.

I would be interested... I have a couple of small ones. Plus i would need to get the two on my roof with a paint touch up.

 

looks like just about everybody has a dent or 2 to remove.

 

My car needs a lot of work. In the past I hadn't thought it would be worthwhile. But if everyone else is doing it, may as well.

 

Spent the afternoon installing a Kartboy rear shifter bushing and a set of differential/subframe bushings.

Differential bushings were a piece of cake.

Rear shifter bushing would have been a piece of cake.....if I had hands like freaking Tiny Tim. Ended up having to disconnect the shift lever from the linkage inside the car to get enough play to get the rod into the new bushing. Kind of a pain in the backside!

I still have the following I want to do in the near future if someone is looking to get an install day going:

-Transmission cross member bushing.
-Change my Tranny fluid to Uncle Scotties Cocktail to see if it remedies my 4th gear grind. I have all the components.
-Clear my headlights. I have the bulbs to do this....just not the testicular fortitude to stick my headlights in the oven. Brad....help a brother out...hint....hint!


I'm really liking the Accessport Stage II. I'm running the 91 octane map since there isn't squat for gas stations around here that have 93 octane. It's like having a new car all over again! Fun! Fun!

I have brake rotors and pads to go in.

Haven't decided if I want to put in those phenolic spacers in (that I won from the raffle). Seems like a hassle (poet). Maybe I'll sell them and get a crank pulley instead.

 

I know one station here in town that claims 93 octane. pump is labeled 91+ but if you ask them they'll say its 93. Nabil found it, next door to UPS.

 

I forgot you guys dont have 93 around here... Thank God for Wisconsin gas.

 

i know its a ways to drive but a coworker of mine that lives in dodge center said theres a station that runs 93 out the pump. i'll maybe talk to em later today and can post something up. it would parobably be just a once and awhile thing for most since who really wants to drive all the way to d.c. for gas

 

I actually live in Rochester but work in Dodge Center. Yes....the Quick Trip has 93 octane. It's just weird that it is the only QT I have ever run across that does. There are some people in that town with some $$$ and some nice cars...several Saleen Mustangs, Vipers, Range Rovers, etc.

I usually fill up there but don't like the idea of trying to run the 93 Octane Accessport map with one frickin gas station to chose from. I also would prefer name brand gas like BP or Shell. Guess I'm just being a picky whiner.

I think that 93 octane map only gives you 5-10 crank HP. - not worth your trouble.

just changed out my trans fluid with uncle scotties cocktail, and gotta say that is the shiznit. i had the old grind and no downshift to 1st over like 5-10 miles an hour and now with a lil throttle 1st hits at 20 with ease. shifts smooth as a babys butt.

if anyone else is looking to do this i got another qt. of redline at the store
(i work at advance on the south side) just stop in if you see my 2.5 outside...

and if anyone is interested we're (we as in the store) is gonna start trying to set up a car show of some sorts for mid aug sometime, would be great if there was a nice turn out of subies throwin it down. i'll keep things updated as the details are hammered out.

I agree that a regular meet date would be a great idea.
We could always switch up the places but the day could be the same. This might help with getting more people to ban together in Rochester.
