so i think my car is totalled in colorado...

    mods-

    vis cf hood
    motegi racing 18s
    piaa 520s converted to HID
    moving HIDs
vf39 with all the ebay piping stuff, large ebay intercooler, and pro tune with cobb
    some nice stereo stuff
enough that i want some of it back if possible/want money out of it

a plow pulled out in front of my little brother (from behind a snow bank)

    tips for dealing with insurance?

I'm thinking take it to a non-affiliate shop right away and get an estimate (see if it really is totalled). If it isn't i can deal with letting some shop out there do the repairs etc.- hopefully they won't mind replacing the VIS carbon fiber hood etc..

If it is totalled what am i going to have to go through to get the parts off the car/buy it back?

will i be able to get it towed back here and remove some stuff prior to totalling it? or will i have to buy it back in order to do that?

    any experience?

dude, that blows, hardcore. as far as the parts i know you could go out there and swap the stock parts with the aftermarket stuff you wanna keep. anything else and you'll have to ask somebody else

sorry bout the car man, hope your brother is good

problem is i don't have stock parts for a lot of it either (no stock turbo, no stock wheels, no stock radio etc.)

i'd really like to be able to take all the parts from this car and put them on a slightly newer stock wrx and be better off all around- but that may not be in the cards.

my brother is fine and his skis are ok (he has 10+ pairs with him which would have to be overnighted from europe if they were damaged)

    any info?

i posted on a few forums looking for help including nasioc in the colorado sub-forum

    Wow, thanks! :)
Well how about Saturday Feb 16th! Bowling!!
That gives enough time for everybody to join in and take the day off! I will for sure have that day off as I have to do some girls hair for some high school dance that day!
I don't know what bowling ally it is but the one by valleyhigh dr. by the post office. Time? we can decide later!

p.s. Steve... The correct spelling is N-I-C-K-O-L-E !! :) Just so you don't keep spelling it wrong!

Nabil, I saw you! If you were referring to me! It's always fun talking with you!
Same for everybody! It was nice to see everybody and get together.

unfortunately i think your kinda screwed with getting the aftermarket parts off of the car.... the only way you can get the parts back is if you buy the vehicle back from the insurance company.... thats how it went when my accord got wrecked few years back... after the insurance adjuster does his estimates and whatever... and if they "total" it out they'll give you there offer of what the car is worth... from there you can haggle with them if you feel your getting boned... and then you have the option to buy the vehicle back for whatever they chose....

Find out how much it will cost to buy the car back. If its not to much, you should be able to part it out and make your money back(if not make a few bucks) I can tell you right now that i would be willing to buy a couple parts off ya.

my insurance company has gone on the record that anything that was on the car when i purchased it i will be "fairly" compensated for- that includes a ton of the mods

same for any recent engine/mechanical work i can provide receipts for etc. and some % of the other aftermarket parts i added.

They still may end up way short of the $ i'm looking for- but they will be working with me on those parts.

I will absolutely be considering buying the car back- however, it is in colorado. The most likely scenario would be taht i'd buy it back and basically resell it to someone out there who would then do the parting (and send me any specific parts i want). I don't know about spending hte money to truck it back here and time to part it myself- i will profit more from spending that time at work here in roch or doing custom work for someone.

I have a favor to ask of you 2.5RS guys:

Would someone be willing to let me tear their gauge cluster and interior apart to have a look inside? I would like to know what I need to do to convert the gauge colors, but I haven't seen the insides of the 2.5 clusters. Anyone?

Sorry to interupt the festivities.....but the wagon has gone off to it's new home! I'm sad and glad all at once. Sad that it is gone but glad that it's gone to a new home of a first-time suby enthusiast.

When we go bowling.....first round is on me!

Car didnt start this morning, have it sitting on the charger while I'm away at work. Anyone have ideas on where to get a good deal on a new battery? I'm thinking Wallyworld or FleetFarm.
