I would seriously advise getting only 50% on your windows. NewSteve, you might not need to worry with your grocery getter, but if your car looks in any way "sporty", don't give the cops an excuse to ticket you.

    AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

the local boys in blue aren't bad at all, i've never been hassled once by em for my tint.... stateys on the other hand are TOTALLY different! i've got 3 tint tickets from state patrol and 1 warning in the last 3 years and i got really fadded/purpled 35% on my back and 2 quarters and nothing at all on the 2 front in my rs...

and if i remember right your looking at $115 per ticket... i'd definately think twice about going super dark... thats just my 2 cents

My car is a grocery getter, right?

    5 doors...Wagon...Eh?

I had 35 on my Mustang for 3 years, didnt have any problems with it at all. Im thinking about doing 50, as when it was dark out I hated that I didnt have a very clear view of what was going on.

I drive like a normal person to and from work. Doesnt stop the trooper from pulling me over and giving me a couple of $130 tint tickets. Douchebags....

Steve and Bob, I'll see what I can get together today and let you know.

You have no tint on your rear window. It changes the overall appearance quite a bit. That's the only reason you haven't been pulled, because you really drive like a douche:biggrin:

I have 35% all around. I've never had any problems! (knock on wood) :) It doesn't look dark until the car gets some snow on her!

I got mine done at Trucking America. It was 45$ per window and the back window counts as two. Mine came with a lifetime warrenty so if it bubbles, scratches, fades or falls off they get to replace it!

I've considered doing lighter tint, we shall see. I see TONS of outbacks that look exactly like mine running around with what looks like 5% tint on all but the front 2 windows, even with younger folks driving them. I may go lighter than 15-20 on the back though. Luckily (if you consider it that) my outback is not exactly the type of car to attract much attention at all, either from young punk kids nor from the po-po. We shall see.

I use the Splish-Splash on 37th St. myself. Too many of the touchless systems suck (leave residue).
Also, my girlfriend and I board. I think 1_sic_rex and twisted board, too.

new steve.... i'm thinking you'll probably be ok with some darker tint on your grocery getter, just cuz like you said its not the type of car that attracts the fuzz...

    trborex
i do board but i'm not 100% if i can anymore... long story short i got brand new set up last year then blew my acl out a week later, so i'm sitting on a never used set up with a trashed knee... i'm gonna give a go this year, just wrap the hell outta it and slap on the knee brace, but dunno if it'll hold up

i'm gonna try it out here in a few weeks and if it is a go i'll be throwing up a invite here to the fellow boarders any time i plan on going

    Question:

My car has been being kinda leaking lately. When Aric and I drove it up to Burnsville a few weeks ago it was spitting tranny fluid on my up pipe. (I think thats what Aric said) When stopped/idleing it drips and then causes smoke puffs to come out from under the hood/wheel well.

Today, same thing however, I was not driving very far. (2miles) Going 45mph. So there were no high rpms. This started to happen again as I was stopped at the stop light. It was kinda stinky! Is there some way I/Aric could use somebodies garage to take a peek as to what the heck this is? ( I wouldn't know what the heck to look for so some help would be needed!)

Also, when I'm idleing my lights get really dim. My battery voltage goes from 14.3 down to 11.2. And when this happens I smell electrical heat smell. :( Not good.

Side note: new battery and alternator. Was put in the car in September.

Bollocks. That auto sure is giving you problems. Sounds like it's time for a 6-Spd swap!
J/K, I would offer my garage but right now it's filled with crap. If we manage to clear it out in the near future, I'll certainly let you know.
Are the battery and alternator new?

    Yes. New.

Thanks Lee. I do not know how to drive a manual yet.

It's just that well, Gerdy is getting old and all her lady parts are wearing out. Eventually, things will be as good as new again!
