This is generally event related....that's why Matt stickied it in the Event section.

Since I am the original thread author I would like to request that it gets moved back to the Events section please.

Spotted a WRX on Elton Hills heading towards 19th st. Was not able to tell the color as it was dark. This was around 5:30pm yesterday.

We just have basic cable so I've never seen the show....but I understand they are "Americanizing" it and it will be back soon. I think it will suck after they take the character away. That Jeremy whats-his-name cracks me up.

I look for the videos on the internet.

If you want to see something cool.....

    http://www.arielatom.com/ariel/site.php

and go to the "watch the video" at the bottom right of the page.

    Guaranteed to give wood!

Doesn't that look like a boat-load of fun? I believe the supercharged version is less than $60,000. We could get the Rochester gang to go together on one! I have an extra stall in my garage so I would of course volunteer to store it for everyone.

Sunday.....Downpipe.....Stage II......vroom.....vroom......I'm free at this point. It's not supposed to be too cold so we could do it in my garage.

I would suggest all new gaskets if you don't have them already. Better safe than sorry.

UGH!!. I am in St. Paul this weekend. Raincheck?

BTW..Just got the 60K mile warranty maintenance done. Used Redline Shockproof lightweight for tranny and Redline MT for rear differential. It made shifting really smooth!.

    Pat, you definitely wanna switch.

Pat....I was driving when you were still pooping your drawers....

    Nabil....no biggie....raincheck acknowledged.

All.....just ordered a set of summer tires / Auto-x tires yesterday from work. Edgeracing.com has some hella good year ends sales. Got a set of Falken Azenis RT-615's in 225/45-17 on sales for $42 off the regular price of $154 each. Saved $168 on the set of four. These are about as close as you can get to a r-compound racing tire....and still be as street tire.

Now I just gotta find a good deal on a set of Rotas.....17" tires.....16" rims.....no good for Kalalla!

These are the Wheels i am interested in.

    What do you guys think?

Also, were any of you interested in that fog lamp group buy? I do a lot of night driving so would like it but am scared that i wont be able install it as I am a total n00b at relays and stuff.

i know pat is laughing his ass off while reading this. :p

Those wheels are awesome. I can't decide between torques, subzeros, atgacks or boosts! Give me some input! Most likely in bronze ro steel grey....something darker than the silver on the car. They have a set of Attacks in steel grey with the machined lip but I'm having trouble visualizing them on my wagon.

    steve,

my vote of your choices is boosts. sub-zero's are old, and i've seen them on a silver 04 wagon around town (don't know who, it was before i met you guys i think). I have torques, so if you want to see what they'd look like i could bring one over sometime. but i don't know why you'd want to do that because that'd be copying me.
other choices you didn't mention that i like are g-force, rev and slipstreams. i'm sure you know to look here http://www.subydude.com/gallery/ to see what they look like on actual cars and in most colors. I'd still buy from oakos.com by the way - cuz they're closer.

You wouldn't feel honored if I copied you exactly? Speaking of copying you exactly.....my STI shifter trim came today as well as a STI key. Stopped at Paul's Lock and Key and they cut the key for $2.

Yeah....I'm swaying toward Boosts in Steel Grey or Silver which Oakos has in stock right now.

My tires come Monday....will probably wait until February or March to order the wheels....not like I'm gonna use them. Maybe Oakos will have a sale sometime in the near future.

"Royal" gunmetal(or black) wheels on a silver w/smoked car? Tasty!!

Personally, I think bronze or gold wheels on a silver car look too "tacked-on". If there was something else on the car that matched it, such as bronze or gold window tint for example, that'd help a lot. Even still, bronze or gold would look better on a black or blue car than a silver one. But hey, aesthetics are mostly subjective.

Had to comment on the Atom - that thing is awesome. If there was a track close by, it would be worth selling the STi and my wife's minivan to get one! It may be heretical to say it on a Subaru site, but every once in a while, I miss having RWD. I would never actually get rid of the Suby, I love it too much. But if I could also have something ridiculously overpowered with rear wheel drive for fun, it would be great.

Finally posted up some video on IWSTI for those that were interested in the sound of my new exhaust. Since I never seem to get the time to see anyone in person anymore - here it is if you want to check it out:

Thanks Rob. I really want to buy those but will have to push that purchase a little further for two reasons:

    1. Will not be using them anyways till summer
    2. Just got a ticket on 52 while driving from cities. This was near zumbrota and was clocked for going 10 over. Also got a ticket for illegal tint. NO ONE, work/friends will believe that i was stopped for going 10 over in the slow lane. When there were people passing me in the faster lane. I have no idea why me?

In any case, i agree with the gold wheels being ghetto, but bronze does look good on black. For a silver car, steel gray would nice.

    That sucks!

I usually stick to around 72 mph on 52. Too many places for the sneaky bastiges to hide. I do the same on Hwy 14 to work....just isn't worth it to me to get there a couple of minute earlier....but I'm old and slow. :)

Did they get you for the tint on your lights or just windows? Now ya got me worried....I don't went the same popo being on the lookout for little silver cars with dark tint. :(

He stopped me for speeding, but then after looking at license/ins., asked me to lower my passenger side window as he wanted to see if the tint was legal. and rest is history.

yes, came back with my license and a meter to check. it was 31%

So, i did deserve it but i didn't think people get tickets for going 10 over on a highway.

Also, the court date is in Red Wing. I will have to take a day off to go there and deal with this, i dont even have a case.. so am thinking of just paying it.

    what do you guys think?

How much was the ticket and how will it effect your driving record and your insurance rates? Weigh that against what you feel the value of a vacation day and your time is.

I personally don't understand tint laws and many state laws for that matter. Your tint would be legal in other states. How is it fair representation from our state governments if say Cheese heads can have 20% tint and we can only have 50%??? (Just an example....I really don't know what the laws are in WI.)

here's a link to tint laws by state http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/.

    nabil,
change your court date if possible and show up. chances are if you change the date the reporting officer will not show up and you'll win by default. you don't pay the ticket and you don't pay were it really hurts - insurance.

They dont like the dark tint because "they cant see through it" so they told me.

goodhue county cops are dicks anyway, one of my friends dads was pulled over in Zumbrota for going 2 mph!!! over the limit. Another guy I work with got stoped because he didnt wait for a lady to be on the sidewalk (she was 2 steps from the sidewalk) before he took off from a stop sign.

anyone want to plan some kind of get together now that the holiday's are over?

    install nabil's exhaust?

    fix steve's horns?

find a place to mess around in the snow? (assuming we get anymore snow)

    chitchat?

play with my xmods evoviii? (yeah, i know. but they don't make an sti anymore)

I plan on getting some more random stuff for my car soon too... exhaust, suspention, transmission, brakes ok just about everything...

    Steve,
Both the tickets together are going to be $250+. I dont think it should affect my insurance as it is a minor violation, but you never know.

    Pat,
This thing is in Red Wing. i thought even after changing the date officer might show up as it is small town. Also, if he does show up, is there even a case or just by showing up i could get a discount?

Also, this tint ticket doesnt look like a 'fix it' ticket.. so seems like i can leave it as it is and just pay the ticket. If i go to court, would they ask for proof?

    Man i'm confused.

About meeting, yeah it is overdue guys, we can't be THAT busy that we cannot meet once this winter.. also SubarWRX has'nt even been introduced to the group.

I'm down for a get-to-gether. Let's figure out a day and time and make work....maybe next weekend???

    Nabil

I think your ticket is a $250 suggestion to get the tint fixed. If you happen to drive by the same Barney coming or going to the cities he is going to be a huge Richard about the tint.

Pick a time....let's make it happen.
