    Nabil,

I agree with Pat, this exact strategy has worked for me before, but I did not win as the cop showed. However, they were running so late, the assistant DA just called me up to the front of the courtroom and asked if I would accept paying a non-moving violation instead - $10 parking ticket and I was done.

Regarding the police not liking tint, the best thing you can do is make them comfortable when they walk up to your car after a stop. They have no idea if you are some psycho about to shoot them, transporting drugs, or just a normal guy responsibly enjoying your high performance vehicle. When pulled over, roll down all windows and keep your hands on the wheel until asked to move, if it is nighttime, put your interior lights on before anything else. Look at the cop, be respectful, and do as asked. The more comfortable they are when they stop you the less likely they are to cite you for anything.

If you do get a ticket, the less memorable you were during the stop and the longer you delay the court date, the less likely they are to show or remember the details of the stop.

Don't just pay, your insurance rates will almost certainly increase.

If you guys set up a meet, I will try my best to make it, looking forward to seeing everyone again.

    Brad

Great advice Brad! Also....I finally got a chance to watch the video. Rich's exhaust sounds awesome and looks great. I wish I had held out. Quite a bit of positive feedback off of the STI website too.

I would be happy to have the meet at my place. I would like to atleast help Nabil with his downpipe and maybe get some help on my headlights which I still have not done.

    Let's do it!!!

I am game. I still have lots of leftover rope caulk for the headlights. I am out of town the weekend of the 20th. Otherwise, should be able to get away for a little while.

Steve, I am very happy with the exhaust and was surprised by all the positive feedback. I thought that most people preferred really loud catless setups. TXS RFL and simllar setups seem very popular with many STI owners. Thanks for the props.

I also have a "spotted": An older model black Impreza (i'm not familiar with model names/numbers GD, GC etc) followed me off 19thst NW onto 52south. Rolled down his 5% tinted window and waved to me! had an exaust, and kinda kept up to me before i had to exit.

Oh, I'm planning on changing my transmission fluid this weekend. any tips nabil? I'm hoping I'm not one of the 04 WRXs with a t70torx transmission plug. I have to go source some parts (funnel with long neck, jackstands extra set of hands)

    ;)

wasn't sure if you were gonna add a spotted or if I should.

BTW. Brad, i finally played that video and I like the exhaust sound as well.. we all need to have a meet so we can checkout stuff each person has done.

I had mine done at the dealership. but what i've read is that you should leave the fluid dripping for a while as it takes time and also do it when it's a little warm. After adding the fluid check again if you need to add more. It takes a little less than 4quarts to do trans and 1 quart for rear diff.. atleast in the bugeyes. About the extra hands, sorry i'm in St. Paul this weekend and will not be able to help.. ive got all weeknights free and the weekend after next free. let me know.

I just had mine done at Mobile 1 oil change place on 37th last weekend so I won't be any help for experience anyway.

I just went and checked my torx bits and the biggest mine go up to is T45.

I'm willing to help...I have an extra set of hands and a set of jackstands but not a long funnel or anything to drain the fluid into that I can think of.

    Nabil

I was kidding about the dopey grin....just trying to be funny. What kind of goodies were you getting at Daubes?

    All

I really wish we could figure out a way to get the work out to more enthusiasts.

I have a funnel. Sunday later in the afternoon sound good? I still have to check if it's a torx or not. I read they're hard to find that big. So I might be SOL and will have to take somewhere which I'd really hate to do.

Justin had some fliers made out for mnsubaru.com at one point. could also bug him about some stickers too.

The first time I read your post I thought you said you had a "funeral"? Apparently I need some coffee.

I'll try to make Sunday afternoon work but I can't promise. Tami is traveling for work all next week so I should probably spend time with her. Let me know what you find out about your bit riquirements.

Well this is the first weekend in a long time that has not been full of other junk to do. Other than watching football, I am relatively free. If stuff is going on I will try to make it.

I spotted a 2.5 RS recently that looked like it had a ton of work on it and the color looked to be WRB. It was coming out of the Target lot - looked awesome.

A buddy of mine with a '05 silver STi ran into a guy at the gas station who was driving a modded Acura (TL I think). He said he has a shop out East of town and has worked on a ton of Subarus. Anyone know anything about that? I have his name, but I am reluctant to post it here without his permission.

Kevin at Auto Refinishers Plus kicks asss. He's on 6th Ave NW, spitting distance from Southern MN Auto Supply (which is where he gets his paint).

Great work, high-quality materials, awesome price... maybe not the best choice if you're in a big HURRY (it's a small one-man operation), but other than that I recommend him wholeheartedly.

I'm curious who parked their black STi right next to my 9-2x this afternoon at Buffalo Wild Wings. Had to have been there for the IBM thing as well, since I'm pretty sure I've seen that car in the IBM parking lot before.

well, i won't be around this week... off on vacation. there's not been anything going on other than nabil crashin' into road signs. I think we had talked about a group install once the brakeGB gets in. I plan on getting a full exhaust to install at some point soon, depends on when they get made(Crucial UP/DP, cat pipe, cat back). nobody's found any parking lot to mess around in. but then we havn't any snow around.

Yeah....I've been checking in on occasion but haven't had much in the way of smart ass comments to add!

I'm actually too embarrased for anyone to see my dirty car. The parking lot at work is gravel and with the freezing / thawing / freezing cycles we've had the thing is constantly dirty.

I've still got to order some Rotas but I can't make up my mind.

    Later!
