I would like to be the more DIY but thats my only form of transportation so I cant take a ton of time doing it and like you, I dont have a ton of time.
Turn your own wrenches, get some time under the hood. One of the best ways to do it! Not to mention the bigger number that stays in the bank account can make you smile after busting a knuckle or two!
Do you have a comprehensive list of what needs to be done? Also, when are you thinking about doing all this? My garage has been used a number of times by a number of members here locally, if you wanted me to do the work I would probably be able to do it for much less than a dealership. Side note: Do not ever take your car to Clement's for anything. Ever.
Thanks for the advice... I was talking with the guys at Clements cause I need to get some "recall" things worked out. As for what needs to be done, I havent looked that much into it but i was just going based of 60k maintance.
as far as the 60k service... i believe its typically flush and fills on the common yet never done fluids, ie: tranny, brakes, coolant, etc... plugs, fuel filter, suspension check, etc.... for 800 or whatever you were quoted they better be doing some serious upgrades... but that for sure is not happening at clements... As far as the work... hit lee (blackozone) up on the offer if you want to save some cash, call me for the parts... if you want a shop to do the work other then the dealer talk to one of these shops as they have one of the better reps in town for quality of service All Star Auto Virgils Joes Autocare Swee's Auto
I concur with everything Jason said and would add that you shouldn't even let Clement's perform recall work on the car. I took my car in for recall service once. It's a drawn-out story overall, but basically they didn't put the car back together correctly the first time and after 5 additional visits, they had broken a total of 4 minor parts on the car and never once apologized for being incompetent or insulent. I eventually gave up on them and purchased the parts to perform the repairs on my vehicle myself. I really cannot stress enough, coming from someone that is anally detail-oriented: Do not let them near your car for anything. Not recall work, not to sell parts, nothing. Take your business to Morrie's Minnetonka instead, you will always be happy that you did.
Well like i said... Im not the most knowledgable person when it comes to this sort of thing... And rather then me doing it and possibly doing something wrong, Im willing to pay to have it done and done right in a timely fasion.
What's up, people. We're going to do an impromptu Subaru Meet this weekend. Here's the skinny, yo: Where: Whistle Binkie's South When: 03.11.12, 6-ish PM Why: 'cuz. What? Yeah!
I was able to rearrange my schedule so I could attend for a little while. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight
It was great seeing everyone again in one place, and it was nice meeting you Tony. Hopefully you can make it out to some more get togethers.
So, seeing as the nice weather is already here I was thinking of having a grill/beer drinking afternoon here in the next few weeks... let me know what your thinking and when you might be free... I'm thinking probably on a Sunday. More details to come
Oh boy... I havent been on this thread for awhile. I guess much hasnt changed... LOL. Anyone down for some Photos and beers? Or perhaps a spring cruise? Nothing specific in mind, just seeing what yall think. Thought it would be cool to see all of the cars out at sme point in time. Binks south this sunday to discuss? We do need to get back to the more regular meets!
Photogs and beers would be cool with meh.... Spring cruise I'd be game for but unsure if I would be able to attend with the work schedule. I'm thinking of doing the grilling as stated earlier^^^ this Sunday as I have it off. We could discuss said adventures here.
Yes, discuss this Sunday at Jason's house while punching holes in his walls and pissing on the couch.
Place - Northwest side... homie for details we'll say.... Swing over anytime after 3:00pm probably start grilling around 4:00pm I'll be grilling Chicken and maybe cooking up some chops and sauerkraut. Probably potatoes on the side or potato salad. Peoples can bring a side if you or desert if you want, and something to drink. As always kids are welcome, we usually have plenty of juice, snacks, etc for the little ones if they don't like beer and liquor.
I am in for some more regular meets. (meats? ) And of course you had to decide to grill/debauchery this weekend while Sarah's fam is in town! I will host something soon, I need to turn over some kegs.... I did just put some paint sealant on the Leggy so it's lookin pretty shiny, I'm game for some photos. -Steve
