Got the suspension on the Leggy last night finally. Koni inserts and Epic springs, dropped it about 1" in the back and about 1.25" in the front. :D

I'm planning on heading up sometime on Friday unless we get a few people from the area together and they wanna leave some other time. It's always nice to have company on the road.

I believe we are leaving Friday morning to meet a crew out of the cities, or at least that's the plan.

Just picked up my first Subaru. I'm born and raised in Rochester, but will be heading up to Duluth this weekend to go back to school.

Anyone have a shop recommendation for subaru work in Rochester? Obviously there is Clements but I need to get a couple different quotes for engine warranty work and want someone who knows Subarus as well if there are other shops in the area.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    thanks!

Avoid Clement's, they don't know a Subaru from a post in the ground.

I still need to get my control arm recall taken care of.

Any opinions on the LaCrosse dealer? I tend to get over there more than up in the cities.

I've heard good things about Virgil's, though they're not Subaru specialists or anything. I do all my own mechanical work, so I'm unaware of how the shops are doing. Yes, it's annoying to know that our dealership couldn't tell a turbo inlet from a vagina, but sadly they're the only ones in this area. The next closest is La Crosse or Minnetonka.

A friend of mine went in to look at the 08 wrx that Clements has had in their lot for a while. The salesman told my friend 08 was the last year Subaru made AWD. They must be really desperate to sell that car haha

I recently had some warranty work done at Clements (a turn signal harness issue) anyway while I was in there the service manager cornered me about a survey I had submitted a week before. Needless to say I threw the dealership under the bus, this is what I wrote in the survey:

Clements Subaru might have the worst service I've ever encountered... First off service techs need to return cars in the condition the showed up in if not better (i.e. No damage) Also Service writers need to realize that Subaru owners care more about their cars than your average car owner of any brand at the same price point. Service writers at this dealer are consistantly difficult to deal with. Whenever I show up for service here I'm greeted with a "how are you gonna wreck my day smugg look", instead of a smile. --Also I gave them horrible survey scores....

I started talking to the manager about it he went on to ask me what damage I was talking about. (I had two chips on each side of my bumper where the tech had obviously pryed off my bumper) He said would take care of it by repainting the bumper entirely, He also went on to say they had fired the male service writer from subaru and was bringing in a new guy who actually "enjoyed subarus." Then he thanked me for my honest survey.... So I walked away that day thinking maybe just maybe, Clement was really working to turn there reputation around.- My car bumper will be done tomorrow...

I got told the same thing when I had the relay recall issue with them. They were being complete dickholes about it when I was insistent they hadn't done it correctly. I know I was right and what needed to be done. Had to call SOA and they called Clements and ripped them a new one.

The service manager told me they were going to be making changes, bring a guy in who cared about Subarus, blah blah blah...that was a year ago. Glad to hear he uses the same story, f'er has to have it memorized by now.

It was like pulling teeth to get them to use the all in one key fob to replace my 2 piece key/remote fob. Why? It wasn't the correct part for my m'fing VIN. And before arguing about it with me, I even prefaced it with 'I don't care if it doesn't work, I will pay for it regardless (b/c I know it will work).'

Oh, did I mention the two times I had to bring it back for the relay recall they stalled it every time pulling it out of the pull in bay...

They try and spin a pretty story but they still suck donkey balls.

I won't go into my story, but they've proven their incompetance both mechanically and in the methods of being customer-service centric. They're so bad, I send Chevy owners elsewhere.

What do you mean Lee? Broken vacuum fittings are just as good as ones that aren't snapped! If they didn't know it was there, they couldn't have possibly broken it.

Man, we could start one hell of a thread on 'Why we hate Clements'

It wasn't so much the fact that they did, indeed, break my car after performing a warranty job on it. It's the complete disdain I was treated with and the lack of apology for doing so. They acted like I was inconveniencing them for asking them to fix what they clearly broke. Even when they fixed the broken vaccuum fitting (which I diagnosed for them), they still broke both throttle cable clips and my alternator cover in doing so. At that point, I just called it a day. Lord knows if I asked them to fix that, they probably would have ended up crushing the car somehow and claiming it was my fault.

As I've said before, my family and I have always had a good honest experience with Virgils. I always send people there to get work done, but for warranty work you'll have to find a dealer. DO NOT go to Clements, they are terrible. It's like pulling teeth even at their parts counter EVEN IF you give them the exact part number, and they never stock hardly anything Subaru except oil filters and crush washers...and even those I just get in bulk online anymore. It'd be funny to send one of their managers a link to a thread on here about all the ****ty experiences people have had with them.

The parts guy knows me by name now, pretty sure he is scared of me. Got top hats from them about 2 weeks ago--that was an ordeal as they 'misplaced' them then found them a day later. They only called me back b'c I wrote a not so nice email in. Then I just had them order me a CSC rebuild kit. He was kinda scared when he brought it out to me. You could see the look on his face like '****, I hope this is the right stuff.' Even had me double check the box.

The best part was I asked of they sold extra s (which they don't) but he went scurrying to the back to check for me.

Let's just say they know me by name, and I think they have learned that when I give them a part number, just give me what I requested. Vin match or no vin match, just give it here.
