For reference, are you going to have breakfast, or are you going to leave when it's 7:30am or something? I'm sure the "dorks" will be very impatient to wait for the other "dorks" to show up.

My stupid question of the month:
"What speed are you guys going to be cruising at?" Me and my conservative-ness sickens me.

If I'm there I will not exceed 5 mph over.

    1) I'm already expecting a license suspended letter in the mail any day

    2) It's WI

    3) They're expecting us, just like every other import drag day

    :-D

I'm not 100% sure if I can make it yet.. need to work things out with the wife.

Yeah we'll eat, leave McD's at like 7:15. I do have a radar detecter in my car, so I'm probably going to speed a little, but if the group decides not to, I won't. Right now putting stock bumper on, doing the headlight mod, and changing oil, all before a night at the casino, so I ost likely won't get any sleep tonight, it's alreay 9:30 adn jsut starting.

Wow! What a fun day! I've met two new Subi fans at Rock Falls raceway; a cool Hmong guy by the name U.T. and a hottie named Melissa. Hopefully, they can join our forum and not be so shy in front of the fellas here. *wink wink*

I did quite well on my runs. I was kickin ass all day with my consistent 13.3 second runs. The best run I had for the day (this was the finals) was against a 2nd generation Eclipse GSX with a 16G turbo. I was surprised to run a 13.19 @ 103 mph while he had a 13.25 @ 105 mph. I earned myself a nice, big trophy for the day. Wow!

On the way back, I saw three racers get stopped by 4 squads. They all still had their numbers on their windows, and one of the guys was out of his car on his phone. Being towed? Yikes! I also got radared by three more squads on the way back to the Twin cities. What the??? Lucky me. Wrxpeed, I hope your radar worked.

I thought I would have also, but (in my defense) my front right rotor is creating a high pitched sound with every rotation, I was running on full street trim [17" Rotas, full interior, etc.] as I would if I was driving around town, and my ECU is tuned for 91 octane when I'm using 93 octane. So, I'm happy with my time. You guys couldn't make it?

yeah, you got the pic of m '02 WRX vs. STi, man that thing was fast, too bad the guy behind the wheel needed some more practice. That was my best run of the day, I hit 13.994 @ 95.19, the Sti hit 14.040 @ 96.72. It was a great day for racing, minimal wind, very dense, cold air. Can't wait for UTEC, hope to hit very low 13s, maybe set a 12 second stock turbo run, who knows. IT was great seeing everyone there, kickin, we need to hang out sometime, you live like 7 miles away. May 8th here we come.

Those are nice times. No offense, but as nice as your car is, there's no way on God's green earth it was going to be an 11 second car. 12's however, are very much within your grasp. What was your 60 foot?

Holy crap, whoever is running 14s in an STi needs to sell the car or get some practice. Also, the number of people who have done 12's on the WRX stock turbo can be counted on one hand--so don't hold your breath.

I know of at least 7 guys, a few have 50 shot, otherwise mainly tuned to the brink of destruction. The stock turbo record just went down at 12.782 with 21 psi and no intercooler, fuel, or drivetrain mods. Merely utec, header, and downpipe with electric cutout. So I think that it is within grasp.

Heh, OK I didn't consider nitrous. The stock turbo can go to 21psi, sure...but it A) won't hold that and B) won't make power at that much boost because of how hot the air will be, especially on a stock intercooler. Brink of destruction is right...with no fuel mods the injectors can go static at 16 or 17psi, I'd hate to see how lean that guy gets.

Point is, if you want 12's (no nitrous), bigger turbo is the way to go, not taxing the TD04 in a way it can't handle over time.

    my 2 cents

Bryan, I still think your car is doing very well for just a downpipe and the 3/16" mod. Good job... As some other Scooby guys at the Rock have mentioned, the Subarus were getting their asses whooped out there. I did my part, and earned a big trophy. Did you get a trophy, too?

My brothers were dissapointed that the Sti driver wasn't kicking ass too, but it could have been that the driver needed get comfortable with the Sti 6-speed tranny.

Joel, did you run your "almost" stage 4 WRX yet? :I
My 60' is 1.886. I tried to get better, but the power to tranny gears hooked up so well that I am happy with what I got. I'm just glad nothing went wrong today. :D

no trophy, first race I was beat. I was quicker with 14.152 vs. his 14.210, but it was a Neon with slicks and a killer R/t of .012. That killed me, couldn't pull it off, and since I had no sleep at all last night, I went straight home and passed out at 4, I was happy, jsut wanted 13s run, and got it, so Im a happy camper today.

Exactly, just to say it runs 13s. but yes I do agree with your statement, it's just that very few and far between there are some very fast stock turbos, there are also some very slow modded turbos as well. But I do know, if you wana run safely, bigger intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, and turbo are the way to go, with all supporting mods as well. I'm thinking vf22 in the future, maybe not this summer, but definetely UTEC and exhaust.

may 8th, who's up for it, got a month to plan around it. Maybe yoom can hook up better. He's never raced his WRX before. He had vf34 with all the goodies and barely broke the 14s, practice makes perfect.

Just kidding. I know your car is very fast. Drag racing will eventually lead to a broken car, so I won't abuse it too often. Now I know what I'm capable of and that's all that matters to me.

Bryan, sorry. My brother didn't know that he had a video feature on his digital camera until the second half of the day. He found out at home that the videos have sound. Pretty cool for a digicam. Anyway, My brother has 3 vids of me running down the track (pretty cool), the Porsche Turbo, a 350Z, and the NSX. I'm serious though. If someone can tell me how I can get these ".mov" vids onto the internet, I'll post them up.

ps- ".mov" files are played with the 'Quicktime' application.

Guys... just got back home from Cali. It's 11:24PM right now... I'm tired as heck. Gotta get some rest but now I'm all fired up with those times.

To the STi kid who ran, don't feel to bad, he just NEEDED a lot of pratice on launching a 4WD. I know I do... I couldn't even break 17's so a 14 is good for someone whose new into the dragging scene with AWD.

Fong and the rest of the guys... thanks for holding up the Fort in the Drag Queen scene. I'm proud of ya... did any of the Subie who were representing taught that Porche guy he over paid for his boxer engine?

All in all, I'm tired and I'm off to bed.

There was actually a white MY02-03 WRX that ran a 12.7. Very impressive. I would have liked to talk to the guy, but I couldn't get to him. I saw him run again, but he ran a low 13.

Vic, the Porsche ran a 14.5 on it's first run, but hit high 12's for the rest of the day. It lost to a DSM in the semi-finals I've heard... so no trophy... like moi. :p

Huh? I can sell anything that people will pay me for.. hmm.. how about I give you the trophy, and you give me a cash gift. ;-) (non-related transactions) hehe

Both for 1st place in bracket racing at rock falls. First one was with my old 1990 Geo Prizm (took out an NA eclipse for the win!). Second one was with the A4 1.8T. Maybe I should take the 2.5TS wagon to the strip to win a third :)

Chong, I'm starting to wonder what school you went to, because you know everyone in the business. I think that GSX/Tsi is your buddy. Did he run a 13.25 on the finals in the 13-13.49 bracket against an Impreza? He's actually a cool guy to talk with. If I had a slightly slower reaction time than he did, I would have been dead meat. I was really lucky to get a .020 sec reaction time. His average was better than mine for the whole day, so I was lucky to win. :)

Yeah, he is a very nice person to talk to about cars. He can talk your ears off, believe me.

Now I'm gonna have to tell him that I know the guy that beat him at the ROCK!):D. My friend is a very big DRAG Junky. He even has a +500whp NOVA, I'm waiting to go over to his house when its warmer to take a test drive. :D Anyone wanna come take a look at this race car? :D jk

I've got something I'd like to point out. I am running the RS transmission as well as the stock rear differential mated to the USDM WRX motor. Because I'm using the RS tranny, I can only use a clutch that mates to it. Thus, I'm using an ACT stage 2 setup designed for the EJ25. I also am using an Exedy lightweight flywheel (combo'd with a lightweight Perrin crank pulley) and the Group N tranny mount (holds tranny very well: I recommend it). All this, and my trip down the track was very smooth. My brother said that a lot of the cars on the track were rocking/jerking everytime they shifted, but my car hardly ever did and I shifted very fast into every gear. It just looked like it kept on going faster and faster. I stayed in sync on the powerband in all my gears with my shifts, so I didn't cause hard jerks to the tranny. I guess many people complain that ACT clutches causes broken trannys is because their setup isn't in sync with the way they race/shift... resulting in too much instant stress in a certain gear and BOOM! There goes the tranny. I've talked to a guy at the Rock who said that he went through many transmissions because he would always hit the fuel cut and then shift hard into the next gear. I think because of this, the transmission gear is at a very high RPM and then is forced into the next gear that isn't at such a high RPM.

Correct me if I'm wrong with any of this.
